I trudge into work with Robin and Steve by my side, unsure of how Keith would react if Robin's dad had told him anything. Everything.

Gulping, I walk around to the counter where I station myself, taking off Robin's blue coat which she had given me for comfort and support. Glancing at her, I give her a smile because she looks perfect. With a black button-up shirt on with a silver chain around her neck, loose blonde hair, and matching black cuffed jeans, she looks amazing. I, on the other hand, am wearing baggy trousers and a collared jersey, hand-me-downs which I had gotten off Steve. Robin had went shopping yesterday for new clothes, trying to get me something but I refused for her to spend her money on me. She got me a black V-neck dress nonetheless, which I will only wear on special occasions because it's too nice to ruin.

"You guys are late," Keith says from behind me. Whipping my head, I look at the clock positioned above his head. Damn, we really are late.

I glance at Robin nervously, and Robin glances at Steve. We all wait for him to answer, like a chain of understanding. And, miraculously, he does.

"Y/n wouldn't get up," he explains, and I immediately have a soured look on my face. I look at him, widening my eyes as if to say, What the hell was that?  I know Steve is trying to make light of the situation and joke that I wouldn't get up, but there was a reason. Facing Keith when Robin's dad could have told him just why I wasn't interested? That's quite a firm no.

I slowly gulp, turning to Keith. "So, err... Had any calls while we were gone?" I asked, not so subtly. The dread filling me from head to toe.

He only frowns at me, the lines on his forehead creasing with his confused look. "Why do you care?" he replies, rather rudely in my opinion.

"Hey!" Robin defends, stepping in front of me protectively. If he wants us to be rough, we're going to be rough. Steve glances at Robin and she reluctantly backs down, realising that Keith was just being Keith.

I gulp again, closing my eyes and flinching when Keith moves again. "Yes" he says instead, "it's on the answer machine."
