My dad's snoring cuts through the somewhat peaceful atmosphere of the hospital. We're waiting for my mom to get out of theatre; she needed an emergency operation. The medical bill makes me want to die but, fortunately, we're quite a wealthy family.
Tapping my foot against the linoleum floor attracts unwanted attention so I quickly stop. I know that I'm here for my mother, but it's so boring. I find myself walking to the payphone in no time and dialling Robin's number.
"Robin, I know it's late and I'm sorry. I just miss you so much. My mom's in theatre. I can't wait till I see you again, you wrapped in my arms," I say.
"Who is this?"
Oh shit. It was her dad. I'd totally forgotten. And I've totally forgotten how to speak.
"Who is this?" he repeats, angrily.
"It's y/n," I manage to choke out. "Look, I can explain."
"No, you can't. You're never going to see my daughter again. I'll be calling your parents as well. I'll make sure everyone knows what you are, you freak."
"No, please. It's just-" I don't get to finish as he hangs up on me. Tears start to stream down my face and I slump against the phone box. Never see Robin again? I can't go through my life like that.
I walk to my seat, pick up my handbag and turn to go. Before I do, I quickly place a note on Dad's chest, saying I'm going back home and that it is urgent. Now, it's okay to go.
I half-run, half-walk out of that room, my embarrassment following me as tears were staining my cheeks and soaking them. I spam the button to the lift as if it would make it come any faster. It eventually comes and I throw myself into it, leaning against the cold metal walls, crying my eyes out. Robin Buckley is the light of my life and that light is going to be extinguished.
I need to go back to Hawkins, Indiana and fix my stupid mistake.
Sorry for the short chapter, I don't know what else to put. What do you think? Will you get Robin back? Stay tuned.
