A.N As I said in my other story (if you read it) I have not died! (Yay!) My laptop was in repair, and I just got it back a few days ago. I quickly wrote this chapter for you (To prove I really am not dead) so it's kinda short. Sorry! But I still hope you like it, and will hopefully fan, vote and give feedback on my story.

Soon we passed the sign that said: Welcome to Twinbrook! And I was overcome by shock.
Oh god. This town is composed of about five roads! Even Sable Falls, a town with a population of one person, was bigger than this! Stupid human town better have a hotel... Human town. I looked at Rae, her pink markings and eyes definably not human. "Did you perhaps bring some concealer?"
She looked at me strangely. "No."
"Eye contacts?"
Realization dawned on her. "Oh poop! I forgot! When the school does visit, we slab on a bunch of makeup to cover-" She gestured her face wildly. "This!"
"Pharmacy?"
"Not here. But they sell makeup in the convenience store."
"Okay." I headed towards the convenience store, which was named Convenience Store. They aren't very original. But at least it was open 24/7, which surprised me. I opened the door but Rae started to follow me inside. "What are you doing?" I hissed as we stood in front of the door which I had slammed closed.
"Coming inside; you don't know what skin tone I have."
"And what about him?" I said, jerking my thumb to the counterman through the window, an ugly teenager with carrot coloured hair and acne visible from here.
"Oh, I'll be like one of those weird rocker Goths who wear strange makeup and contact lenses." I had to laugh at the idiotic grin on her face and we walked in. Carrot-head did a double take, but Rae just grinned wickedly. We searched through the pitiful amounts of make-up on a shelf and chose the one closest to her skin tone. I also grabbed a map and laid it out in front of him.
"Where is Twinbrook?"
"You got to buy the map for me to tell you."
"How much?"
"Seven dollars." Seven dollars? For a map? I wished I had compulsion as a power; I would get the map for free.
"Surely you could show us?" Rae asked, sickingly sweetly. "I'm new to town and was wondering where the next town is. I hear there's a new romance playing in the theatres..." Rae was the worst flirt ever, but the carrot-head grinned. He had braces, and I was really starting to pity this guy. Actually, I pity the town; this guy is probably their hottest resident.
"Well," he began, blushing. "Twinbrook is here. Well, around here." He said, pointing to an area in the north of New York.
I did a double take, New York? I didn't even know there were small towns in New York! And, last time I checked, I was in Ontario! I quickly shut off my thoughts, in case there was a Telepath around, even if it was highly unlikely. I put the map back and took Rae's make-up.
"We don't need this." I said, returning to the shelf. "Let's go find a cheaper place."
She nodded and followed me out. Once out of sight of Convenience Store, I chucked the bottle of concealer at her.
"How...?"
"Pick pocketing in a useful skill Rae, you should learn it."
"I swear, you shall corrupt me Ivy! Imagine if I became as rotten as you."
I laughed and pulled out the map. "Only if you're lucky."
She scowled before she began laughing.
"We still have a few hours until eight; I say we get some sleep."
She nodded and soon I found a little motel, yet another surprising thing. I looked through the window before breaking the lock on it and crawling inside, I helped Rae get in. Then we slept, the alarm set for seven am. We couldn't afford to stay any longer.
We were both groggy, two hours of sleep isn't much. We crawled back outside and I took out two granola bars and water bottles out of my bag.
"Where did you even get those?"
"The school's kitchen 'generously donated' them to my cause."
She began munching and I took out the map again. "Niagara Falls."
Rae looked up in surprise. "What?"
"Niagara Falls. We're going there."
"But how? It'll take us a long time to walk."
"Don't worry; I'll get us a ride."
She looked uneasy, but I simply started walking around the five roads of Twinbrook, cursing myself as I looked around. Why did I tell her my destination? She could lead the Academy to me once I left her. I guess I would have to leave her a bit farther away from the Academy than I originally planned to, to give me a bit more time.
Why not dispose of her? A permanent solution... I shook my head to myself, I protect people and only kill Daemn. Not people, no matter how inconvenient. Soon I found what I was looking for. An inconspicuous gray car in fairly good condition, the car that would get us to Niagara Falls. I quickly picked the lock and hotwired the car before driving back to Rae. "Hop in."
She did, and gripped the seat tightly as I pressed the gas pedal hard. The arrow was quickly approaching the hundred mark.
"Are you crazy? Slow down!"
"A hundred per hour isn't that fast."
"You're thinking of fudging kilometres!"
I laughed. "Fudging?"
She shot me a dirty look. "I don't swear. We already established that. But slow down! You're going about a hundred and sixty kilometres!"
Oops. What can I say? I never learned the difference between the two. I removed some pressure from the pedal and Rae's death grip on the chair loosened. "Where did you get the car?"
"Dumb question Rae." She sat silent for a moment, unsure, before palling.
"I'm sitting in stolen property! You stole a car!"
"Geez, you make it sound like it's the end of the world."
"Ivy, you broke the law!"
"Yes I have, plenty of times. But I make it up to them by protecting them from getting killed by Daemn. Unlike you're damned Academy!" I'm not sure why I said that last part to her, but was glad when she didn't pursue it.
"Still, you shouldn't take a car!"
I hit the brakes, causing Rae to let out a little squeal. "If you're not fine with sitting in a stolen car, you're welcomed to leave."
Her mouth opened and closed a few times before finally remaining shut. With a sigh, she motioned for me to keep driving, which I did. I noticed the car had a GPS, and I turned it on. It showed a drive that could take a few days, and Rae was giving the silent treatment. What a fun ride this will be.
