How would Jeongyeon start to protect this Im Nayeon?

It's not like she could keep tabs on her all day, that would be insane. Not to mention they were in different years, so obviously the only time Jeongyeon could actually watch out for her would be during lunch and break.

And Jeongyeon needed that hour and a half to recollect her thoughts.

She had heard from around the school about a rooftop, usually unoccupied, and so she decided to go and rest there while she thought up a game plan.

Much to her dismay, Chaeyoung and another of her friend's were there.

Chaeyoung waved hello to the confused girl, who walked over to them with a questionable smile on her face.

"I'm Dahyun." The other girl sticks her hand out, and Jeongyeon shakes it. "Chaeyoung told me there was a new kid."

Chaeyoung nods and turns to Jeongyeon. "So what brings you here? Need to ask for help about anything or anyone in the school?"

Jackpot.

Or Bingo, Jeongyeon never really knew which term was best to use.

"Yeah, I wanna know about Im Nayeon...and some other guy who is apparently her ex."

Dahyun and Chaeyoung both look at each other with some sort of hint in their eyes where they're telepathically fighting whether or not to tell Jeongyeon. Eventually, they both agree to tell her.

"Im Nayeon," Chaeyoung begins, "Is THE girl in Hanlim."

THE girl? Alright?

"She's Principal Im's daughter, president of the student association, and visual leader, along with Sana, Tzuyu and Jennie."

Jeongyeon's never heard of Tzuyu before but she figures it must be one of the girls on the school poster.

"She's also known for being a hybrid between a bitch and a Mother Theresa." Dahyun quips, and Jeongyeon nods at the idea.

"However, her ex was the opposite. He was completely - and I mean, completely - insane. No wonder why Nayeon dumped his ass." Chaeyoung frowns. "Rumour has it though, that he's coming back. No one knows for what reason."

Dahyun scoffs. "What other reason is there? He's pitiful and wants his ex back, so he'll do anything to anyone who gets in his way."

Jeongyeon thinks to herself before asking Chaeyoung another question.

"Why...why is he considered insane?"

Chaeyoung and Dahyun cackle for a bit, leaving Jeongyeon infoless and extremely puzzled at the sudden action.

The laughter dies down and their joking faces become serious within a split second.

"Oh, Jeongyeon unnie..." Chaeyoung wipes a fake tear from her eye. "Dear, dear Jeongyeon unnie."

"What?"

Now she's extremely EXTREMELY confused.

"His name:"

Dahyun adds in, "Han Yejun. Age?"

"19," Chaeyoung finishes the sentence. "Place of birth?"

"No idea," Dahyun honestly answers. "Date of birth?"

"No idea either. Sketchy student, to be honest."

Jeongyeon realises they're just answering each other's questions, and laughs it off about how smart of a team they are. Smart is subjective, however, and they excel at certain things at most.

"So why was he called insane?" Dahyun asks like an interviewer, and Chaeyoung leans into Dahyun's hand which acts as a makeshift microphone.

"Well, I'm glad you asked that question, Miss Kim. There are so many reasons, but at most there is one that stands out."

"And what may that be?"

"We had a school dance, right, and towards the end, he came into the hall with bodyguard. I mean, bodyguards. Like, bodyguard bodyguards-"

Jeongyeon stops her there before she continues on repeating herself. "So what's so bad about that? How can that be described as insane? Maybe he just wanted protection?"

"Protection? From the students?" Chaeyoung scoffs. "The students need protection from him, to be honest."

"So...The bodyguard thing?" Jeongyeon requests.

"Oh, right." Chaeyoung looks to Dahyun. "Well, the first day he came into school, he was covered in blood. And I mean, human blood."

Why would Im Nayeon date someone like him? She seems a bit out of his league, if we're being perfectly honest.

"You're not caught off-guard by that?" Dahyun looks into the older girl's eyes. "Weird."

"Yeah, well, I've dealt with worse." Jeongyeon doesn't want it to sound like bragging, because truly there is no reason to brag about seeing worse than human blood smothered on a student.

"Well, next he's always being called out of class, and he doesn't come back for a week or so. He goes missing for a while and then comes back and seems completely isolated from everyone. A week after he comes back, he's dishevelled and throws tantrums and tables and chairs." Chaeyoung points to a scar on the right side of Dahyun's face. "See that? That's from a fight in the cafeteria where a bread knife was thrown and hit Dahyun by accident."

The guy throws knives? Sheesh.

"He's dangerous. He acts like a fugitive, trying to hide from someone." Dahyun's hand trails over her scar. "So why do you wanna know so much about them?"

Jeongyeon's great at improvising, but she doesn't know how to explain that she needs to protect this Nayeon person.

"Uhm...Because I want to get closer with Im Nayeon, I guess?" Jeongyeon's voice breaks, but she hopes the two don't hear it.

Dahyun and Chaeyoung both shrug.

"Best way to do that is to join the sports club. She's captain of three of the teams. Volleyball, Tennis and Basketball."

"Thanks." Jeongyeon walks away as she begins to think about how to join without seeming too suspicious.

Because hell yeah, Jeongyeon is AMAZING at sports.
