"Yejun, don't do this." Jeongyeon breathes. "I told you, I don't want to be part of that world anymore."
He evilly chortled, pacing back and forth in the area he was in, holding the blade in his hand and twirling it around as if it were a relay baton.
"What other choice do you have? You already signed the contract. Just because you ran away from home, doesn't mean you can run away from what you are."
"But I'm not like that-"
"Oh, but aren't you?"
Jeongyeon feels tears pricking her eyes. She just wanted to run away from it all. The money, the guns, the pain.
There, she was this badass leader who would shoot for what she wanted-but truthfully, she never wanted it at all.
She didn't want to kill people.
She never meant to.
It was an accident, she always told herself every night. I accidentally pulled the trigger, that's all.
But she knows it's a lie.
Repeating those things made her feel as if nothing had happened at all. Something she always regretted.
Jihyo had always been her closest ally. Someone she could depend on. But even so, Jihyo never knew all about Jeongyeon. She never knew that Jeongyeon had held a gun, shot and killed someone.
"Yeah, well, I've dealt with worse." Keeps replaying in her mind, the conversation she had with Dahyun and Chaeyoung on her second day there.
She knows she's dealt with worse. She knows it's nothing to brag about.
She was the worst part.
"I'm guessing you already know you didn't get in here by your own means. Father and I planned it out." Yejun trailed the blade with his index finger. "And it's all going according to plan. In fact, your best friend was part of the plan-at least, not in the way she thinks."
"Best friend?"
"Myoui Mina. You two have grown exceptionally close, haven't you?"
Jeongyeon's throat feels dry.
So Mina was part of the plan all along, huh?
"Yeah, she didn't come here to stop you from returning." Yejun beamed, his face glowing. "She came here to bring you back."
Her heart hurts. Everything feels like pain. It's all hell.
The tears prick against her eyes, stinging her.
Yejun walked up to Jeongyeon, lifting her chin up. "Now, you have two choices. Or three. Not really sure which one you'd want to choose."
"What are they?" She growls at him, and he steps back with laughter.
"Getting feisty, are we?" He turns his back for a split second. "First: you come back home. No problems, and you get back to your position."
She can't. She doesn't want to.
"You look a bit confused. Well, let me narrow it down then. Second: you refuse. We'll simply have to take you back, probably kill you because we don't want the word spreading."
She can already feel the gun to her head.
Was that how her victims felt?
"And third: you refuse. We won't kill you."
Jeongyeon doesn't understand. They won't kill her? But...what does that mean?
"We'll just hold your girlfriend for ransom. Possibly kill her too in the process." He licked his lips. "She was nice. Helped me to understand the school. Just never helped me to become sane, I guess."
