It was a curse—for one person at least (spoiler: NOT Jeongyeon)
News had spread around the school about the dethroned Queen, Im Nayeon.
After a tough three-on-three game, Jeongyeon had claimed the title of 'Ushijima's Underclassman'.
On Jeongyeon's team, there was Son Chaeyoung and Kim Hyunjin. On the opposing side, there was Nayeon, Park Sooyoung and Kim Minji.
After a gruelling two sets of intense volleying, Jeongyeon had claimed the two sets as her own, and defeated Nayeon.
This, of course, did not sit well with the extremely competitive girl.
"I can't believe this." Nayeon took a sip from her straw. "I was defeated—by a newbie at that!"
"She's not exactly a newbie, Unnie." Sana reminds her, and Nayeon growls back. "She's also insane at Basketball. She did a one-on-one match with Min Yoongi and whilst she didn't win, she was only four points behind. Can you believe it? She literally almost defeated THE Min Yoongi."
The splash of strawberry milk attacks the innocent brown acacia table, with Nayeon strangling the pink box.
She looks over at Jeongyeon, who is talking to Tzuyu and Chaeyoung. "Can't believe she even became friends with Chaeyoung. Psh."
"Jealous much?" Sana pokes at the older girl.
"Chae is my little Chaeyoungie." Nayeon states, and Sana rolls her eyes. "And now this newbie is going to ruin it."
Momo walks up to the two and sits down with a huff. "They ran out of curry buns at the cafeteria."
Sana pats her best friend's back reassuringly, looking at Nayeon, who is staring out into the distance (disguise for 'looking at Yoo Jeongyeon').
"Say, let's go shopping on Sunday. There's something I've been meaning to get for your birthday." Sana distracts the bunny-teethed girl, who turns back.
Nayeon leans on her hand and looks up at the angel Sana. "Why are you telling me this?"
"To get your mind off of Jeongyeon." Sana bluntly tells her. "She's all you've been thinking about for the past three days."
Sana's not wrong. She's kind of tired about Nayeon ranting about the new girl endlessly.
Nayeon's tired, and she doesn't want to rant anymore about Jeongyeon, so she agrees.

Jeongyeon sat down at an open table in the food court.
"Must you really dress up like that?" Jeongyeon glares at her friend, who is clothed in black everything, covering her face with a mask and her head with a black baseball cap. "I get it's to keep me safe but...it's a bit too much."
Jihyo rolled her eyes. "I did not travel four hours with no breaks just for you to say I'm overdressing."
The disguised girl proceeds to carry out a few files which were tucked in her black shoulder bag. Jeongyeon stared on as the girl began looking through them, finally pulling out a folder she had initially wanted to give.
Jeongyeon raised her eyebrows as Jihyo pushed the green file to her side of the table.
"What is it?" Jeongyeon asks cautiously.
Jihyo gives her another glare, telling her to just open it.
Jeongyeon opens the file and sees a photo of Im Nayeon. "Why...why do you have this?"
Jihyo sighs. "After you cut the call, I realised that I have this thing called, 'The Internet' in my hands. I did a bit of research on Nayeon. Turns out her ex is someone we both know."
"We—we both know her ex?" Jeongyeon gulps. She remembers how his name is Han Yejun, but it just doesn't ring a bell. "Like, it's someone close to us or just a distant memory?"
Jihyo doesn't know how to answer without sending Jeongyeon into shock.
"The name might he has now might not sound familiar, because that's not his real name. We both know him." Jihyo averts her eyes away so as not to meet Jeongyeon's eyes. "Very personally."

Momo points her fingers to the food court, looking at Sana as if she were her mother.
"Fine, go get something to eat. Nayeon, you go with her." Nayeon nods her head and follows the very enthusiastic Momo as she journeys through the vast choices.
From the corner of her eye, Nayeon recognises someone familiar...a bit TOO familiar for her liking.
Yoo Jeongyeon.
Of course, it just had to be.
And she's talking with some other girl. Nayeon quickly looks back at Momo, who's already made her choice of which cultural cuisine she wants to try out.
She glances back to Jeongyeon, who has just opened a green file of some sort, and is looking very interested with whatever the other girl is saying.
She doesn't even know why it angers her so much.
Nayeon stomps out of the food court. "You know what, I thought we were here so I could get my mind off of Jeongyeon, but guess who I just saw!"
Sana doesn't want to deal with grouchy Nayeon. However, it's fun to tease her at times like these.
"Barack Obama?"
"No!" Nayeon clenches her fists. "It's not the time to be joking, Sana! It's Jeongyeon, I saw Yoo Jeongyeon!"
"Shocker."
Nayeon begins to walk away, and Sana and Momo (who had to sadly buy her food in a rush) both attempt to catch up with her.
"Did you guys plan this so I could see her?!" Nayeon complains, and Momo shakes her head.
"What? Do you expect me to ask Jeongyeon what she's doing on a specific day so you can meet her?" Sana grumbles, and grabs Nayeon by the collar of her shirt. "Listen to me, Nayeon. I don't even know what the girl's done wrong to you, but you seem to be mad at her for no reason."
Nayeon stops the second she feels Sana's tug.
She knows why she's acting this way, but it's just a bit hard to admit it to Sana's face.
Because truth be told, the girl is amazing.
She's great at everything she does.
She's the type of person Nayeon had always admired, but she didn't know it herself until the day Jeongyeon had defeated her.
Does Nayeon want what Jeongyeon has...or does she want to be Jeongyeon?
Or something else, like-
"Nayeon." Sana snaps her fingers. "Let's go."
With a heavy sigh, Nayeon pulls away from Sana's hold and continues on walking.
