Chapter 9- The Halloween Dance

I woke up to my alarm clock blaring, it took me a couple seconds to register where it was coming from. I can't wake up in the morning, so I have to put a physical alarm clock on the opposite side of the room. I get up and walk to turn it off, I rub my eye, and make my way to the kitchen to grab something to eat. I was so tired I had to make some coffee, I don't drink much, only when I can't function correctly, on second thought maybe I do drink it more. Anyway, I pull out a bowl, a spoon, and cereal, I go to the fridge, and pull out the milk, I giggle at the memory of last night, and how I had to drink salty milk. I pour it into my cereal, there isn't much left, only enough for Robby to have a bowl. Robby! I forgot about him, I looked up to see if he was sleeping, but he had just woken up. He sat up, rubbed his eyes, but shut them as soon as he opened them. He groaned, just by looking at him, I could tell he had either gotten drunk or high last night. I rolled my eyes, and pulled out my phone, it was 6:15, I texted Miguel.

'Hey, could you give me a ride, I don't think Robby is going to make it to school today.' I sent. I ate my food, emptied my cereal bowl, and rinsed it out. I got a ding on my phone and I looked at it .

'Of course! I'll be there at like 6:45. Is that okay?' He sent.

'Perfect see you soon!' I went to my room, I threw on black leggings and a black spaghetti strapped tank top, I threw on a red flannel with it. I just brushed my hair a couple of times, brushed my teeth, and put perfume and deodorant on. I grabbed my bag, and looked at the time, it was 6:40, perfect. I went and sat next to Robby who had pulled the covers over his head.

"Robby, I saw dad." I said.

"What? Wait when?" He said still under the covers.

"A while ago, I'm going to ask him if I can move in." I said.

"What?!?" He sat up, but winced at the sun, I got up and pulled the curtains shut.

"I can't live like this, Mom isn't here, we are running out of food, at least with dad, he can get me food, he has a dojo." I said I walked into the kitchen, grabbed a mug and a portable mug, I filled them with coffee and creamer, I walked back over to my brother.

"But, I can get a job, We can change, and live better, please y/n." He pleaded.

"Robby, you promised me you would change, and now you have been out with those idiots, have gotten hungover or whatever you are," I started, "I love you, and as soon as you clean up your act I will always be there for you."

"I can change now, just give me some time." Robby said, he took a huge gulp of coffee.

"It's not set in stone right now, but if you can change until it's official then I might rethink, but I'm not going to get my hopes up, you were supposed to change when I first got here," I said.

"I won't let you down y/n I will change." I got a ping on my phone.

"Miguel's here, I've got to get to school, we will talk about this more when I get home," I got up and walked out. That was harder than I thought it would be, I shook it off, and went outside to find Miguel.

"Heyyyy! What's up bestie!" He said in a girl voice, making me laugh.

"Your so dumb." I said rolling my eyes, we both just laughed it off,

"I fell asleep last night, what did you guys talk about, I'm too lazy to check." I laughed,

"Oh we just talked about cobra kai, Demetri fell asleep too, so it was just Aisha me and Eli." He stated.

"That's cool, what are you going to dress up as tonight again?" I asked.

"A Walmart Deadpool, definitely going to get made fun of." He said.
