17 ~ Alone

"Seokjin~ssi, how are you today?"

Taehyung walked into the house seeing Kim Seokjin sitting down beside the pool, staring numb into the nothingness. The omega seems like out of his world, unconscious over anything around him but still even though it's from far apart Taehyung himself couldn't deny how beautiful the omega is.

He sat down beside the oblivious Seokjin bringing along a glass of cold water wanted to simply talk to the quiet guy.

Taehyung hummed quietly trying to reach Seokjin's attention. The younger guy remains unaware of his presence making Taehyung carefully touched his shoulder.

Seokjin flinched.

His hands hastily hugging on his body being shocked with the touch. Trying to protect himself. Perhaps over something. Over someone.

"What do you want?"
"Go away!"

The omega looked scared but his eyes menacingly directed on Taehyung. His remarks was short but Seokjin did not have time for something else right now. He did not have to entertain someone else when Jeon Jungkook has been distracting his mind for weeks. The alpha who put him into his situation now. The alpha who is the cause of his misery. The alpha who is nothing but his biggest regret. Ever.

Taehyung snickered listening to the response from the beautiful omega but he remained calm. He knew very well why the omega acted like that but he is a nobody in the couple's life. He handed the cold water to the upset omega hoping at least the coolness would ease his heart out

"Here, I bring you this. Drink it. You look upset''. His offer remained unattended. Seokjin hasn't looked once at him nor towards the water that he offered. No one knows what is on the omega's mind.

Taehyung did not know on what way he can approach Seokjin. Of course, after the whole incident that had happened towards the omega, from the simple so called arranged marriage that both of the families planned to, to Seokjin who is now kept in Jungkook's mansion, without anyone knowing and without Seokjin's own willingnes, especially from the abduction and now marriage, anyone with the same experiences would become like him. Lost. Confused. Defeated.

Taehyung did not realise but he himself shivers at the situation. Deep inside, he hopes the omega can survive all of these Jungkook's game but he is nobody to the Jeon alpha, there's nothing much he can do either, or simply he choose not to do. From the alpha's view, Seokjin perhaps is stronger and different from anyone else and who knows the omega can win this battle.

Seeing his offer was rejected and his presence was ignored by Seokjin, Taehyung stood up, decided to walk away from the omega.  Respecting his alone time at least would be better for the omega right now.

"I'll just put the drink here, don't worry it's just a cold water, I'm not going to harm you". 

Leaving the glass beside Seokjin, the tall alpha beginning to walk away. Wanted to leave the omega alone.

Except. Maybe Seokjin does not really want to be alone when he was suddenly talking. Voice slow but firm. Perhaps easing himself to start the conversation with the alpha. He knew Taehyung is Jungkook's close friend aka his main assistant but he never talked to the guy before.

"How long have you known Jungkook?"

The question was asked along with a curious eyes directed towards Taehyung. Seokjin's face stoic but his eyes contain thousands, no millions of questions and concerns. Seeing Taehyung back to making the eye contact with him, Seokjin can feel his body shivers, no one in this Jeon's alpha can be trusted, not Jungkook not even Taehyung.

Yet, Seokjin braced himself.

"What..why are you asking me that suddenly?"

The alpha back to sitting beside Seokjin. Interested with the question asked by the smaller man.

It's weird to be asking Taehyung about his friendship with Jungkook when the omega did not know him that well. They have met only twice before this. Why Seokjjn was so curious about the pure breed alpha.

"Why I can't ask you that? I should have known my husband well ain't it?". It's cynical. It's sarcastic. But the word of husband sounded really fake coming from Seokjin. And obviously Taehyung could notice that.

"No, not an issue. I'm sorry that I forgot you are married to my boss. It's just... I am honoured to have you talking to me because I think this is the first time you showed your concern about Jungkook".

Taehyung sincerely said, wishing Seokjin's curiosity towards his boss would bring better relationship between the pair.

"Well, to tell you honestly, Jungkook and I have been friends for years. The great Mr. Jeon, Jungkook's grandfather hired my dad since his teen years to be his personal assistant and from then on I've befriended Jungkook since we were young since I've always tagged along my dad with his job. So aside from me being his assistant, that's why you can see that we are best friends."

Taehyung explained. He didn't know why but Seokjin was unresponsive throughout his story. Perhaps the question was uttered just to break the air of awkwardness among them. Or maybe Seokjin really tried to get to know Jungkook better from his opinion.

Or that was what Taehyung thought.

Taehyung tried to sit down comfortably beside Seokjin seeing the omega in daze, trying to grab his attention back toward him.

"Why are you asking Seokjin? Do you have-"

"So you know Jeon Jungkook's past then?

The question that was coming from Seokjin cut him out from his own question.

Why would Seokjin wanted to know about Jungkook's past when they don't care about each other. What was in Jungkook's past that trigger Seokjin to even ask Taehyung about the alpha.

"I don't get what you mean, why you wanted to know about Jungkook's past?"

Seokjin sighed.

Honestly for months he has been staying with the alpha, he could sense how mysterious and reserved the pure breed is, it's just Jungkook was smart enough to hide his real self underneath his strong appearance. Jungkook is unreadable no matter how many times Seokjin tried to uncover the strong mask that held onto. Jungkook will keep millions of secrets under his name and Seokjin couldn't even keep concealing his curiosity to know the pure breed alpha better. He doesn't even know why.

The alpha's voice brought him back from his reverie.

"Hey, you haven't answered me yet? Why are you even interested to get to know Jungkook's past?"

And yes, Seokjin did not have the real answers for that. He stared at the Kim Alpha, deep yet lost in his own feelings, conveyed through the beautiful sad eyes. Suddenly feeling his heart constricted. Hurts. The stray tears almost spilled down the blushing red cheeks.

"I...I don't know... perhaps for my own sanity, own security or maybe...for my own feelings?"

And before Taehyung. He cried. Silently.

Painfully.
