Two years and three weeks ago:

The sun is up, the flowers have bloomed. What was there to be upset about? Oh yes, I know. Brad is nowhere to be found, and neither is my brother. "Mya!" I hear my friend, Kathy yell from across the classroom. She rushes up to me. Her brown hair pulled up into a tight ponytail and her soft baby blue cardigan tucked into her high-waisted black dress-pants made her look like she belonged at a P.A.T. meeting more than a monster-hunting University. "Where's your boo?" She asked once she was next to me.

"Beats me. Probably the same place my little brother is," I laughed.

"Ashley, we're over here, darling!" Kathy called out. Ashley was the strawberry blonde girl of our friend group. She was really good at fighting but had the intelligence of a goldfish. Her dumbfounded face scanned the classroom for us. "Ash, Ashley! Over here!"

"My goodness, there are only four other people in this room!" I expressed.

"Yo, dummy, I'm calling you!" Kathy laughed. Ashley finally saw us and sat down on the other side of me.

"Hey so, I have a question," Ashley said.

"What is it?" I asked.

"So, when we are looking into, say a vampire, should we like drink garlic juice or something, just to like, I don't know, make our blood taste like garlic juice?" Ashley asked.

"I'm sorry, did that question just come out of your mouth?" Kathy asked her.

"Well, I was just thinking, that maybe if our blood didn't taste so good the vampires wouldn't want it. Cause, yesterday my roommate made a salad but, like the vegetables were like, old, so they didn't taste very good, and like neither of us wanted to eat it. So, I was just thinking that like, maybe if like, our blood didn't taste so good, you know? Then, maybe the vampires wouldn't want to like, drink it." Ashley turned the lollipop that was in her mouth around as she gave us a vacant stare.

"You know what honey, I think you might be on to something," said Kathy with a smile. She rolled her eyes and stifled a laugh.

Brad and Jordon came walking back into the school after skipping class like always. I stood in the foyer waiting for them. I watch Brad come in with my little brother alongside him. "Where have you been?" I asked as I rushed up to them

"Whoa, chill babe, your brother and I were just investigatin' somethin', that's all. Nothing to get all worked up about," Brad wrapped his arms around me, "Nice to know you care so much though!" He laughed.

I looked at Jordon, "What were you really doing?" I asked him.

"There's been some young men disappearing in the area so we were just checking out why," Jordon smiled.

"You are a young man, you both are young men! What would mother say?" I yelled.

"Whoa 'Tense', no need to blow. We're takin' the proper precautions," Brad held me close. His dark eyes and the smell of his motorcycle pulling me in, making me question my judgment. "Besides, we know what we're doin'," He tickled my side. "Though, I wish I was doing a little somethin' else right now- if you know what I mean?" he laughed.

I laughed and almost gave in, but, "You don't know what you are doing, Brad, that's the problem. You skip every class that teaches you what you are doing."

"You learn in the field," He let's go of me. "Babe, do think me to be some incompetent loser?"

I got close to him and looked him in the eyes, "Don't take my little brother out again, okay. Take me next time."
