Other than calling me Ellora, the last letter I got didn't really say anything new. So I stuck it on top of the pile of letters I have sitting on the shelf of my closet. I didn't get much sleep last night. I awoke in the middle of the night and I made my way to the library to read more about Ellora and Mantis. They were more than just criminals. There is a dark history of all the horrid and twisted things the pair did, of all the people that got hurt. It wasn't all for money either, a lot of it was just for fun by the looks of things. The only good thing I could say about them is that they looked like they were in fact in love. The couple could not be separated. This of course explains why he's trying so hard. He has a life-time of memories with someone who no longer exists. I guess if I had a love like that I would want to fight for it too. It's how he is doing it that's the problem. Because, this is not it.
It's morning, I sit on my bed not wanting to get up, go to class, anything. I know I need to, however, so I force myself up. Standing in front of my closet, I'm trying to determine how to dress today. Do I put the effort in or not? I wish I could just throw my past life away and say that none of it happened. It's time I make a decision. I will dress only for me, I won't even think about what someone else will think, or say. If I feel like being pretty then I will, if I feel like not trying then I will. I pull out a floor-length floral summer dress. It has elastic at the top and mid-frame with short sleeves that poof. I also decide to leave my hair down too. It's both cute and lazy. Once I was dressed, I heard a knock at my door. I throw it open. Misty is standing there. She looks at my outfit with a nod, "Dang, you good today!" She says.
"What's up?" I ask with a forced smile and step back to let her in.
"I want to show you what I learned," She says as she immediately sits down on my bed and pulls her backpack off her shoulder. She is wearing a black T-shirt, black jeans, and a black ballcap hat that is turned around backwards on her head. She notices me looking at her outfit, "What, I felt casual today, sue me." She has graphic eye-liner and neon green eyeshadow on, all pulled together with her signature black lipstick.
"Learned about what?" I ask as I sit down beside her.
"Check this out," She pulls out her phone and pulls up a picture of my tarot card reading, "Your's right?" She says while showing me.
"Yeah, and?"
"Watch this," She swipes to another picture, "This is Montgomery's. Do you notice something?"
I look closely at the picture that I didn't know Misty took, "They are identical?"
"Exactly," She smiles, "So," She bends down and pulls a book out of her backpack, "I've done some research." The book is a faded pink colour and the cover says, 'rare Tarot anomalies'. She opens the book to a bookmarked page.
"You are looking into tarot," I comment.
She starts reading from the book, "matching readings: one of the rarest occurrences is when two separate people that do in fact know each other have identical readings without even being in the same room. What does this mean? Well, due to the fact that each person has a different path and their own energy, it is odd to see two different people get the same reading. This is not meaningless, however," She looks up at me with a smile, "here comes the good part so you better be listening."
"I am,"
"Good," She goes back to reading, "there is something called joint-creation, or a Joined. What that means is, when one life was created the other was made with the first in mind. Similar to a soulmate or twin flame, these two don't necessarily need to be lovers but often are. They are capable of a telekinetic or psychic connection and often cannot thrive without being in each other's lives. If their personalities didn't complement each other, to begin with then it won't take long after meeting that they would start to. Joined souls often make for the most powerful coupling and are really hard to separate," she looks at me with the book still in hand, "You can't possibly tell me that he has no interest in you when this is a thing."
