Dear, Ellora...

So it's true, I am a witch, or I was. Misty had a class to get to but she promised to come to talk to me tomorrow. Montgomery and I are in the library. He walks to the back and I follow him. "Who are we looking for?" He asks. As we round a counter into a separate room in the library. This room is very white and it has walls of books.

"Ellora Krain Butchers, 1664-693," I tell him. I am not enthusiastic about the chance I was some criminal witch once upon a time.

"Butchers," Montgomery rushes to one section and runs his fingers along, "Butchers..."

"I didn't even know this part of the library existed," I say as I look around.

"It's the 'monster' archive. If you were at all significant, you will be found in here," He says while looking.

"It's not me," I try to say but the words start getting stuck in my throat.

"Ah, Butchers!" He pulls a book from the shelf and sets it on the big white table that sits in the middle of the room.

"It both is and isn't, you're not this witch now," He says as he opens the book. "You said Ellora, right?"

"Yes. Was I really some married witch that burned during the witch trials?" I want to cry, yet my eyes stay dry.

"I guess, we are about to find that out," He looks at me. I guess he can tell I'm not doing well, he puts his hand on my shoulder, "Look, let's not get upset until we know what we are dealing with, fair?"

"I'll try," I say.

He flips through the book until he Comes across a name. He reads out the page, "Mantis and Ellora Butchers were a married couple known for witchcraft and black magic. They liked to use their spells and potions to trick and scam others out of their fortunes or to cheat death. Before being burned, they quoted saying something about coming back and being together again. Mantis loved to call Ellora by a pet name, flower."

"It is true," I say as I try to catch my breath.

"Like an old times Bonnie and Clyde," He looked over at me again. "Hey," He rushes over me and wraps his arms around me. He feels warm and comforting. "Hey, hey, hey. You are not this witch, you hear me? You have a different life. You are not some kind of black magic criminal, and you are not married to anyone. Do you understand me?"

"This is why he keeps giving me letters?" I cry. "This is why. This Mantis is looking for Ellora, but I'm not her, not anymore."

He holds tight to both of my shoulders and swings to face me, bending to be at eye level, "we will get him off your back, I promise."

"And if you can't?"

"There is a way, we will find it," He says. He pulls me into his chest and gives me a big hug, "We will find it because we have to." He starts rocking me back and forth, "It's okay."

Sometime later Montgomery drops me off at my room. His comforting was so nice that a part of me didn't want to let him go. He gives me a reassuring smile at the door, "You got this," he says. I nod in response as I try to convince myself.

"Thanks. Sorry, I became such a mess back there, you didn't need to see that," I say as I whip some tears away.

"No, it's fine. You just got some upsetting news is all," He reaches out and whips another tear from under my other eye.

"So I guess I've become one hell of a distraction, hey?" I try to joke.

"The best kind," He says and then takes a deep breath, "I mean, it allows me to, um, to, well, to practice my hunting skills while in the safety of the school. Uh, yeah." He gives an uncomfortable nervous smile.

"What?"

"It's getting late, we have a defence against the after-life lecture in the morning," He's scratching his ear, and his face goes a little pink again.

"We do. I'll try to get some sleep, and I'll see you in the morning, I guess," I try to get a better look at what his face is doing but he is now looking down.

"Just remember, that you don't have to be or dress any way you don't want to- Okay, I should go, goodnight!" He turns on his heels quickly and waves at me while leaving. What was that? Among everything that is going on, Montgomery continues to puzzle me. I shut the door, confused about the exchange we just had, and when I turn around I find a letter on the floor. This time is has Ellora written across it in messy red ink. I open the letter and read it,

Dear Ellora,

Yes, it's true, Ellora is you. My darling Flower, you are getting closer. I felt you use your powers today. You have no idea how exciting it was. Don't worry love, you can bring me back once you're more like yourself. As you can see, you don't need any of them. You are not a normal human, they are. They can't possibly understand you. Now, I hope you understand why I can't let you go. My dearest lover, Ellora. Your aura is intoxicating. I understand why that odious Montgomery wants to get close to you, I do. But you must stop it. I loved the workout look today, though I hate how much you were showing off, you looked amazing. I wanted to reach out to you so many times. If only I could touch you like I used to. I'd make sure you remember the pleasure of my love, slow, and deep. I miss our time together my love. Do not worry, everything is happening as it should. We will be together again soon.

              Love, Mantis, XOXO

I rip open my door and step out, the letter still in hand, "I am not and never will be Ellora. Move on and leave me alone. I want you gone. I want to just live. I am Mya, not Ellora. Ellora is dead, she was a bad evil witch that burned to death. I will never love you." I turn back into my room as quickly as I could and shut the door.

I'm not proud to say I cried myself to sleep...
