Shrek's POV ~

I woke up to a ray of warm light against my cheek, which signalled that it was the beginning of a new day.

I stepped out of bed and into my fuzzy bunny slippers, then walked over to the window and opened the curtains so as to let the light in.

I looked around where I stood and saw my favourite armchair where Donkey once sat, the dining table that Fiona and I used to share, and the fireplace where I would sit beside for hours, living in contentment.

My home was filled with memories, each piece of furniture was related to an experience I once had, but it was time to move on and look forward to what the future would hold for me. Hell, I was already getting ready to go on my first date with a handsome man that I had met outside of a 7/11 just yesterday!

I was still fairly new to dating men but Kermit seemed so gentle and kind, the idea of sitting down with him for a cup of coffee felt exciting and calming in a sense.

I checked my moss covered clock in the kitchen and it read '10:38'. I had a decent amount of time before my date but I couldn't stand the idea of being late and giving the wrong impression, so I headed to my drawers and pulled out the beige long-sleeved shirt, brown leather vest and my favourite pair of skin tight pants that I had picked out the night before.

I got dressed and checked myself out in the mirror, I felt a slight boost in confidence, but at the same time I felt embarrassed by myself almost.

My feelings of overwhelming confidence soon faded when my anxiety induced thoughts began to kick in. What if the date's awkward and uncomfortable? What if Kermit decides he's not even into me?

I couldn't let these thoughts flood my head, in just a couple hours I would be sitting down with a gorgeous frog for our very first date, sure I was nervous but who wouldn't be?

Some time passed when I decided to leave and start heading to the cafe in my old navy mustang.

I pulled up to the quaint little cafe that Kermit and I agreed to meet at, it gave off a very warm and cozy vibe which made me feel more at ease. I went inside and sat myself down at a table with a window view, now all I had to do was wait.

It had already been 15 minutes. I studied the menu to pass the time and was even approached by the same server twice, asking if I was ready to order. What if he didn't show up? What if this was all just a waste of time and I had just made a fool of myself by believing that he'd want to go out on a date with someone like me?

My intrusive thoughts were suddenly interrupted when I looked out of the window and saw Kermit stepping out of the yellow van that had just pulled up. He looked as handsome as ever and I felt a rush of excitement take over.
