Liam: Having spent a big portion of your life together, Liam was still an occurrence in your life. Even if you had a boyfriend and he had a girlfriend. Your lives would come dwindling down, and intertwine together as if you never ended things. You were both grown, mature and way past the whole split so you took the situation lightly. When there were jokes about your relationship, you wouldn’t let it bother you, and in fact, you would laugh along. He was your first for everything. Your first love, your first kiss, and the first one you gave yourself to. Breaking up always had such a stigma, but both you and Liam took care of it and knew how to handle it. There was one thing you could never deny, and that was how grateful you were for him, broken and all.
Zayn: You were the ex-girlfriend everyone hoped he’d go back to. Fans weren’t very fond of his new love interest and seeing it as you ended unexpectedly, they demanded for answers to put them at ease. They loved you even after time went by, spamming your social media with old pictures of you and him and pleads such as please get back together! and#Y/NandZaynForever. And you weren’t oblivious to any of it as so was Zayn, you both saw it every single day at least a couple hundred times. But there was nothing you could do. You moved on, he moved on. You could only be grateful for the support and unconditional love they provided.
Niall: You spent time together even after calling it off so your relationship was a little complicated to put a label on. He suggested just being friends, knowing that things could get difficult as soon as tour kicked off and he’d be away 90% of the year. But even then, he’d fly you over, across the big Atlantic Ocean to see him do his thing on stage. You’d spent the night together, wrapped in each other’s embrace. Skin burning as his fingertips danced from the top of your bum gently making their way forward to the base of your neck, pulling you closer to him. Wet kisses are shared, stifled laughs are earned after every time your noses would bump in the dark room. It was really too hard to depict where you stood, but you were both happy wherever that was.
Harry: It was sour, bitter. For the nice, kind, and compassionate guy Harry was, the relationship ended badly and fortunately you grew out of it. Burying the hatchet for both your sakes. “Hey. Y/N?” An all too familiar voice perked your ears, turning around you found none other than Louis Tomlinson. Walking ahead a shameful looking Harry. His eyes stayed put on the ground in front of him. “Hi,” you greeted cheerfully. You couldn’t let your guard down even though you agreed to staying just friends. “Wow, you look good,” Louis took your hands, pulling you into a hug. Harry smiled, speaking not one word but a small hello and managing to greet you with a side hug and a kiss to your temple, completely forgetting he didn’t have the right to do those small gestures anymore. The sound of flickering camera’s caught your attention, and it was exactly what you didn’t need at the moment. “Looks like we’re going to be back together again, ex-girlfriend,” he remarked, predicting a potential magazine cover headline as he took your hand in his because why not.
Louis: “Don’t sweat it,” You stopped him, putting a hand on his arm as he rushed to fix the bow tie and the flower on his left lapel. He looked at you, uncertainty and stress in his eyes. “Okay,” he caved in, raising his arms so that you could squeeze in to fix it for him. You smoothed his tuxedo and pat down his chest. “I can’t believe it’s happening,” he stated bluntly, putting on the golden watch his father gave him for the big day. “Well you better believe it because there’s approximately 300 people waiting and a very beautiful bride down the hall,” you exaggerated, reaching out to fix his hair. He looked down at you, with a loving smile. The kind he had for only one person and that happened to be you. “Is it okay to say that that might have been you?” He asked, his eyes searching yours. And it was true, it was the only thing you could think of all they way until the day. You shook your head, shooing away the regret. “Anything you need before I head down?” You asked, a knot forming in your throat as he move closed to you, too close. He whispered lightly, moving the hair away from your ear, “there is this one thing.”
