"No! It is out of the question!"

"Who are you to tell me that!"

"Your older brother!"

With great force I shove his chest. He only grunts, remaining still in his place with an unamused look on his face.

"Bjorn I will not be made to stay here and—and, sip wine all day while you and father risk your lives!"

He takes a hold of my forearms.

"Sister, this is a battle that you don't need to fight in. You were married only a few days ago, you should go and spend time with your husband."

My head lowers at his words. My husband. Our relationship remained at a standstill. We've barely exchange any words to each other since our wedding night. We spend our nights entangled with one another but by the morning we're both off doing our own thing. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm expected to provide him heirs, I could safely assume that we wouldn't even spend our nights together.
We were tolerant, but not close.

"And there is also the matter of wether you are with child sister."

I freeze in place at his words. Guilt washes over me. Was it reckless of me to do this? To try and fight in battle? I knew of a lot of people that would shun me for it.

But then I am reminded of my commander. A lot of things are drilled into me at the camp. But the most important was that we keep fighting. No matter the circumstances, no matter the risks— if it means protecting those who need it then so be it.

Bjorns features curl into disbelief as he reacts to my silence.

"Sister... are you?..." his eyes fall down my body.

My eyes snap to him instantly. He can't know. I won't let him, he wouldn't let me come with if he knew.

"No. I'm not." I hope it sounded more convincing than I thought.

He gives off a skeptical look.

"Bjorn." I plea.

He just stands still. Looking on in impatience, he was about to give in.

"Please. Bjorn, even if it is under such unfavourable circumstances, this may be one of the last times I am able to be with my family like this. I know not what my future entails. I just want to be with my you for as long as I can. Can you understand this?"

I fail to hold in my chuckle as he unleashes a most animalistic groan, as he rolls his eyes to the sky.

"You want to come? Fine! I just hope you realise that if anything happens to you, it's my head!"

He exasperates his words in annoyance.

"If you can miraculously sneak away from your husband I promise I will keep fathers attention away from you. At least til we are on the ships. But I mean it— if you get yourself killed... I'll kill you."

I grasp his rough hand and plant a swift kiss to his knuckle, before releasing and turning to walk out of his chambers.

"Just worry about yourself Bjorn." I retort.
