"Hey. What was up with you last night? You just kinda got up and ran away," Cameron said as he leant against my locker.
I lied, "It was nothing, honestly, I just - just don't worry,"
"But I am worried,"
"Can't you just stay out of this? Please?" I snapped at him.
He took a step back and raised his eyebrows, "Alright, I'm sorry. I'll see you after class,"

When I thought about it, it wasn't Cameron's fault. He was just concerned. But I was honestly terrified, I hadn't even told my mom because I was so worried.
After the final lesson had finished, I decided that I wanted to just walk home by myself. I got out my phone and texted Cameron.
'Hey. I'm walking home alone today. I'll see you later?'
It took him a few minutes to reply, and when he did, I was already on my way back.
'Okay. See you whenever.'
He was obviously a little mad. I didn't care much, it just made me walk home faster.
As it was a Friday, mom was home early and had dinner ready by the time I reached home. I chucked my bag on the floor and sat at the table.
"Hey, sweetie, what's wrong?" Mom asked me.
"Nothing," I mumbled.
She knew something was up, I didn't want to tell her about the flashback, "Tell me,"
"I think Cameron's mad at me because I left him to walk home by himself,"
"Well, why did you leave him?"
Tiredly, I put my head in my hands, "I don't know,"
"No, Lee, something else is wrong. How's about we get him to come over? You two can hang out for a while, have some friendly bonding time," she suggested. I wasn't sure if I was up for it or not, but I agreed and sent him a text.
3 minutes later, he replied with a simple and slightly blunt 'No thanks. I have dance practice tonight.'
I groaned and read it aloud to my mom.
"Well, I'm headed to Max's place," I said, putting on my shoes.
Max is my cousin, he's lived in Sherman Oaks for 10 years and he told me to visit any time I need him.
Mom yelled from the top of the stairs, "Don't stay out too late, honey. I know it's Friday, but be back by 10:30 maximum,"
And then I stepped outside into the chilly evening breeze. When I arrived at Max's, he opened the door and pulled me into a tight hug before I could even knock on the door.
"Little cuz!! Long time no see, hey? How's your new school?" He said, taking me into the living room.
"Its alright, I guess," I said as I sat down on the couch.
My Aunt Debby walked into the room and gave me a quick hug, "Have you met any new friends?"
"Well, a few. There's Eli, Dani and I suppose Tiffani. And then there's Cameron..."
"Ooh! Who's Cameron?" They cooed in unison.
I rolled my eyes, "No! We're just friends. I think. He's kinda mad at me for some reason,"
They just smirked at me, "Alright then, I believe you," Aunt Debby laughed, "Are you staying for dinner?"
"No thanks. Mom has something for me back home. I just came to see you all,"
"Okay, let me know when you wanna head back. Max will drive you home," she told me as she went back into the kitchen. Max's face lit up when she said that. He's 17 but he just got his license, so he wants to drive someone somewhere at any chance he can.
I smiled, "Thank you, Max,"
"No problem, kiddo! Wanna play some Assasin's Creed?"

After about an hour of playing on the XBox with Max, I got a text from Cameron. I paused the game and read it. It said 'I'm sorry for getting mad over nothing. Just trying to be a good friend :) Do you wanna come over Sunday?'
I replied straight away, 'Its fine. It was nothing important anyway. Come over to my place?'
'Awesome. See you then,'
I smiled, but then realized what the time was, 10:50.
"Um, Max, I hate to be a party pooper but its 10:50 and my mom asked me to be home by 10:30. Can you drive me home now?"
"Sure. Let's go,".
We hopped into his truck and he drove me back home. He had improved (thank god) since he last drove me somewhere.10 minutes later, we pulled up in the driveway and max leant over to give me a hug, "I'll see you soon little cuz. Goodnight,"
"Night, Max. Drive safe. I'll see you sometime next week," I waved as he began to drive back home.
Mom was at the door with her arms folded, "11pm? I told you to be back by 10:30, miss!"
"Mom, when you get tied in with Arno and Elise, there's no coming home,"
I don't think mom found it funny, "Come on, inside. Are you still hungry?"
"No thanks, mom. I'm gonna head up to bed now,"
She smirked, "good because it's cold now anyway," I rolled my eyes and laughed, "sleep tight, honey,"
"Night mom," I yelled from the top of the stairs. When I got to my room, I threw myself onto my bed and got put my phone.
