Partizan Partner - Part 2

You return to your room and flop onto your perfect bed, groaning. The ocean breeze sweeps in through the open door to your balcony, making the curtains billow out gracefully.

You try to understand why Jamie's pushing you away again when everything was just right two months ago on the balcony a few metres from you now. You roll off of the bed and stare hardly at the ground, recalling the terrible events of your last academic year.

Being poisoned, preparing to literally die and nearly losing your friends. You remember Jamie playing the piano and ache for the old him to come back, the one that could express himself and spend time with his friends.

Although you're annoyed at the boy empathy takes over, you will break through.

You don't leave your room for roughly an hour, when an urgent knock at your door grabs your attention.

You walk over briskly and yank it open, there's a butler man, Lottie looking like she's been pulled through a hedge with a pink face and Jamie his same perfect self.

"What's wrong?" You ask, frowning at them.

"We need to meet with the Maravish royal family, it's important." Lottie exclaims, pulling you out of the room by your hand.

You follow them but feel sick, you've only spoken to the royals once and they deeply intimidated you, you hope it isn't bad news.

Your eyes meet Jamie's face as the 3 of you walk quickly down the corridor, noticing a crease of nervousness in his brow, most people wouldn't see it. But you do.

When you reach the throne room you're greeted by the King, Queen and Ellie sat in cushioned thrones, none of them look happy.

"I'm afraid there's a problem." The Queen announces, indicating with her eyes to a screen in the room.

You stand in between Lottie and Jamie, being careful not to touch Jamie.

A video begins to play, of Lottie being interviewed, she obviously said some things she didn't intend to, and her words were edited and jumbled to make it even worse. But what the reporter says at the end sends shivers down your spine.

"There also seems to be another member to the group of teenagers, her first name is y/n, we have no further details on her, but she seems to be very close to the three 'ringleaders' of the group. However, in conclusion, I have come to believe that these teenagers simply made up the Leviathan for attention."

Your body tenses as you process the words in your brain, the press weren't supposed to find out about you.

"As you can see," The king begins, "A lot has gone wrong, including y/n's discovery and a rumour that the Leviathan does not in fact exist."

You glance at Jamie nervously, but he's watching the King, making sure not to miss anything.

The Queen smiles weakly at you. "Y/n, we might need to make a lie to protect the relation between you and Lottie, we will not be releasing any further information on the matter, but we must be sure to be prepared."

The King nods. "Your undercover name will be Y/n Kennedy, Jamie's partizan partner. You will need to stick with him as much as possible when it comes to the possibility the press are near and in general too, seeing as you did so well to protect Lottie and Ellie before alongside him, you will do well to work with him again. If you are interested we would like you to become a part time Partizan yourself, but it will take you a year of training from Jamie and hard work to get there. What will it be Y/n?"

You stare at the King, baffled. A part time Partizan? An undercover identity?

"Yes!" You reply, realising you took too long to do so.

"Good." The queen raises her eyebrows approvingly at you, Ellie stands up and walks over, handing you a necklace. It's the Maravish wolf pendant, you stare at it in wonder, the weight and feel of the cold metal in your hand comforting somehow.

"Thank you." You smile gratefully at the King and Queen.

Lottie grins at you, excited. She then turns and stands next to Ellie, explaining to the royals that she should go to a school in Japan for 8 weeks.

You listen intently, incredibly interested in their response, even if you miss 2 months of Rosewood.

Surprisingly, they agree, and not soon later, you're on a plane to Japan.

The Wolf pendant is worn proudly around your neck, but underneath the oversized jumper you wear for the journey, you're dressed down in black leggings and vans. But seeing Jamie, Ellie and Lottie dressed similarly you don't mind.

"So what's it like being a Partizan?" Lottie sits next to you, grinning with her teeth.

"I'm not yet!" You remind her, smiling anyway.

"Jamie will not let you out of his sight, when the King and Queen gives him a task, he will never fail."

You look over to the boy and see him sat a few seats down, his earphones are in, but sure enough, he's looking in your direction.

You don't mind at all that you'll be spending every second with him, because...he's Jamie.

You smile slightly at the day you remembered.

I LIKE JAMIE VOLK!

"Isn't it crazy?" Lottie continues, "we simpletons from a bakery now work for a royal family!"

You nod, not really listening, thinking about Jamie again.

"What are you thinking about?" She asks, snapping you back into the room.

"Nothing, sorry."

"Ok, well I think this is going to go great, I can't wait to see Japan!"

"I know!" You agree, lighting up at the thought. Your conversation continues for a while, catching up on a sisterly chat.

When it's over you're playing a game on your phone, unable to do anything else being in the sky and all.

Jamie snaps his fingers in front of your face to get your attention. You jump and drop your phone, shooting him a glare.

"What is it?" You snap, scooping the mobile back off of the floor.

"Just making sure you're not getting distracted." He explains, sitting next to you.

You cross your legs and twist round on the seat to face him.

"Distracted from what?"

"Doing your job."

You roll your eyes. "We're on a plane Jamie, the Leviathan aren't going to reach us here. What have you been doing this whole time?"

"Being alert." He replies, resting an arm on the back of his seat.

"When do you find time to sleep?" You joke.

"Rule number one of being a Partizan, never loose focus."

"Are you coaching me already?"

"Yes. Number two, Always look out for the unexpected. We don't think the Leviathan will attack us on an aeroplane, so they'll think they'll get us by surprise, but if we see it coming, they won't get the element of surprise. Then we win."

You nod slowly, "That's absurd, but it makes sense."

"Number three," He holds out three fingers. "Remain loyal and dedicated to the cause."

You understand the third rule perfectly, it's number one on Jamie's priority list.

"That's cool, thanks for the education Partizan Partner."

He stands up and starts walking down the train, "Never call me that again."

"OkaAy." You reply, knowing that you will just to annoy him.

"I'm serious y/n."

Maybe Jamie having to spend time with you will force him to open up more, you hope, but facts are more reliable than hope. And Jamie prefers facts.
