Derek's POV

After leaving the doctor's office, I took Camron to The Olive Garden for lunch, since we both loved pasta.

After placing our orders, I looked at Camron.

"So, you ready to play some football?" I asked him, since that was all he talked about, for the last few days.

"Yeah! I hope I make the team, then Dr. Morgan can come watch me play." He said, sipping his lemonade.

Dr. Morgan mmm. That woman is fine. I've never seen a woman like that before.

"You really like Dr. Morgan, don't you?" I asked.

I could see from the way they interacted with each other, they had a sweet bond.

"Yes. She's really nice, and always gives me candy. Do you like Dr. Morgan?" He asked, looking up at me.

"Yea. She's very nice and really pretty. I might have to start taking you to all your appointments." I responded.

"Are you really gonna make her my auntie?" Cam said, before slurping up his spaghetti, damn near making me choke on my food.

"It's too soon for that. I haven't even asked her out yet, but if we like each other enough, it could possibly happen."

~

After we ate, I went to my sister's house, to take Cam home.

"How did the appointment go?" My sister Tasha, asked.

"It went great. This the sheet you gotta give Cam's coach." I said smiling, handing her the documents.

Grabbing the paper hesitantly, she stared at me, like she was trynna figure me out.

Then this creepy smile, spread across her face.

"I see you met Dr. Morgan." She said, with a shit eating grin.

"Don't start, Tasha." She about to get in my ass. I can already tell.

"I didn't even do anything... yet. But, she's beautiful, isn't she?" Tasha asked, putting the papers in her bag.

"Maaan she fine as hell. How come you didn't tell me about her earlier? I would've been to every appointment." I asked, stealing some fruit snacks out the pantry.

"That's not really something you tell someone. Plus, Camron talks about her all the time, I figured you knew."

"Y'all ain't said nothing about her looking like a cold glass of water, on a hot afternoon, in July. But don't worry, mamas gave me her number." I said, popping my imaginary collar.

"What? I'm surprised." She said, in disbelief.

"What the hell that's supposed to mean?" I'm high key offended.

"Not like that, stupid. Anytime I take Camron to his appointments, there's always someone trynna push up on her, and she always turns them down. It's not like they're ugly or anything, because there have been some fine and wealthy men trynna get at her. But, I can tell from experience, she's been through some shit. By her giving you her number, she might really like you, and she's giving you a chance. So, if you're gonna pursue anything with her, take it easy, and treat her right." Tasha says, taking food out for dinner.

"You know I'm not like that."

"I know, but she doesn't." Tasha said, looking at me, making sure I understand.

"To be honest, I really do like her. This gone sound hella corny but, she literally shocked me, when we shook hands. Like, my whole body was revived."

I had never felt that before, but I'd give up everything, just to feel it again.

"Well, baby bro, sounds like you found the one. Still, take your time, though. If she is the one, everything will happen naturally, and fall into place. So, don't try to force anything."

"I got you sis."

~

After talking with my sister for a while, and playing with Camron, I finally headed home.

After parking my car, in my reserved spot, I walked  into the lobby and headed straight for the elevator. Using my key card to take me to the top floor.

As soon as the doors opened, I was met with the sight of my lavish penthouse, with a beautiful view of the city.

As I walked through the living room, I payed close attention to the silence, and the sound of every step I made.

It made me realize, how empty my place is.

Not with furniture, but with voices. People. A significant other.

I had spent so much of my life working endlessly, to become a divorce lawyer, that I hadn't made time for my personal life.

Of course I dated here and there, but it was never anything serious. It was always someone who wanted something from me.

But then, Sekai popped in my head.

The beautiful, sexy, and radiant doctor.

I could imagine her here with me. Hugged up on the couch, enjoying each other's presence. Stealing kisses and getting lost in one another. Hearing the tiny footsteps of our kids, running around.

I had never thought about doing those things with anyone, until today, when she walked in that room. It was like, everything I ever wanted, was standing right in front of me, and I'll be damned if I pass it up.

So taking my phone out, I sent Sekai a quick text.

: Hey Kai. This is Derek. It was great meeting you today.

Hopefully, she doesn't think I'm weird for texting so late.

Hearing my phone ding a few minutes later, I quickly read the message.

❤️💍: Hi Derek. It was great meeting you too. Hopefully, I get to see you again.

Delivered 9:16 pm

Aw yeah. I gotta make her mine.
