Sekai's POV

"So, what's been going on, sis? I haven't seen you in a while." Lauryn asks me, taking a sip of her martini.

It's Friday, and I just left the office. I texted Lauryn to meet up for dinner, so we could catch up, because I know we won't have much time tomorrow, due to the charity event.

"Girl, working as usual. I've been getting new patients in, nearly every week, so things have been busier. How are things at the hospital?" I asked.

Since I previously worked there, I knew things could get hectic, especially with some of the families that came in there.

"I forgot to tell you this the other day but, Alexis got fired!" She said, wide eyed.

"It's about damn time. I'm surprised she lasted this long. What she get fired for?"

Whenever I still worked there, Alexis, one of the nurses, always gave me problems. It wasn't just with me, but most of the women that worked there.

She was screwing one of the male doctors in her sector, and thought she was untouchable, but karma came around, and got in that ass.

"Her stupid ass got caught, fucking in one of the empty rooms. There was a patient who just got out of surgery, that was being transported there, and when Dr. Evans walked in, she was on her knees, giving some new dude head." Lauryn told me.

Dr. Evans, was the doctor she was messing around with. So, I knew he had to have been pissed seeing that.

"That's dumb as hell. Why would fuck a random, at your job? The same place, your current entanglement works. I hope she know that's going on her record."

It's gonna be hard as hell for her to get a job. Especially, in the medical field, with her pulling some shit like that. With Dr. Evans being her ex boss, I wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't told other hospitals about her, as revenge.

"Ok, enough about Hoelexis. What is this I'm hearing, about you and some new man?" She asks, wiggling her eye brows.

I bet it was Marsha, that told her.

"First, how do you know?" I asked, before I expose myself.

"You already know, Marsha told me. We've been trying to set you up with somebody, since you moved here, but you won't budge. Now, you giving out phone numbers? He must be something special." She said, finishing her drink.

Damn you, Marsha!

"Honestly, it just happened. I had just got done with a patient, and was going to my next one. When I walked in, there he was, fine as can be. He was bringing in one of my favorite patients, who turned out to be his nephew. Then, when I shook his hand, I literally felt sparks, Lauryn. Like it was something out of a romantic movie. The whole time I'm working, I could just feel his eyes on me. Usually I wouldn't think much of it, but when his nephew called him out, for flirting with me, he was like, 'yeah I'm flirting with you. What you gonna do about it?' So I gave him my number." I told her.

My mind taking me back, to that moment.

"You sound like you in love, already. What's his name?" She asked, smiling.

"Derek Grantham."

As soon as I said that, her eyes went wide.
