Song Recommendation - Crazy=Genius - Panic! At the Disco

"What are you going to do little one? You're all alone... Poor pitiful little you,"

His voice sent chills down the eight year old's spine. However, they stayed still, looking up into his glowing red eyes with a blank look in their eyes.

"So unlucky, your parents have died because they couldn't keep me appeased. Now, they've left the burden of you being alive. What are you going to do, child."

The young (Your Name) repressed the smirk that threatened to spread on their face.

"You act as if I'm some hopeless little child, mister."

There was a glint in their eyes, one that reflected the mischievous, nefarious and malevolent side of their soul. The crowned darkness figure appreciated this side of them. The feeling that he got from them was delightful- it filled him with so much glee.

"Oh? You say you're not a hopeless little child? Then prove it to me, you're the one stuck in a predicament here. As agreed upon by your ancestors centuries ago, I must receive a gift every year. In return, no harm shall be bestowed upon your family along with a gift in exchange for their labour.

And look at what has happened. They haven't given me a gift in two years, and now I've come to collect their debt."

His unusually slender arm reached out from inside the smoke of darkness, using one of its claw-like fingers to gently touch the child's skin.

"I could break your body in a snap as if it were some twig. I could impale you with one of my fingers, I torture you in ways you couldn't even imagine."

The palm of his hand now rested on (Your Name)'s cheek, his thumb pinching the skin down painfully into his hold.

"Here's why you can't kill me, I am your present. You think I'm oh so naive, don't you. You cannot reject gifts of high value, whether it be gems, riches, or souls."

(Your Name) broke out into laughter, tears pouring out of their eyes as they gasped for air. They looked around at their dead parents, and yet they could only laugh.

Their body was in pain unimaginable, and yet here they were, laughing hysterically while crying tears laced with sadness, trails of anger left behind on their skin, as they rolled down their face.

"So you see, you couldn't kill me even if you wanted to. The contract prohibits you from harming the people who have given you the gifts. I'm your gift mister, and therefore, since I've given myself to you, you cannot hurt me."

The child was on the floor, their knees touching the grass as they slowly stopped laughing. The tears streamed steadily down their face, as their (eye colour) orbs met the piercing thing's red eyes.

"So here's the thing mister. I offer you a gift, and now you must give me something in return. I want you to give me something that is unforgettable, a gift that I may forever keep. Both in life, and in death."

The child couldn't see it, but the demon's mouth spread in a crooked grin, smirking upon the child staring up at it. He gave a deep hearty laugh, as the smoke began to dissipate slowly, revealing the creature's form to the child.

"Oh? Maybe you aren't as innocent and naive as I thought, child."

He knelt down, getting closer to (Your Name)'s height.

"Well here's what I offer. Instead of you having to make a sacrifice to me every year, I'll offer you this."

It was a smooth ovular object, that felt cool to the touch, as if it were metal. It was painted a dark gray, black splotches were painted here and there.

"You in turn must keep this safe for me. It'll begin to crack over time. The moment it inhabits 17 cracks, it'll be unleashed."

(Your Name)'s eyes held skepticism in them, as their eyes darted from the object to the thing.

"When it is unleashed, it will obey your every word. While it does have to do something in return for me. It will make sacrifices for me, the ones that I will never receive directly from you. It will be your best friend, you companion through time.

Unfortunately, if you accept this deal, you will no longer be able to "respawn," as you mortals call it. You will only have one last life remaining.

"However, I have decided to give you gifts to aid you in your journey."

It pulled out 5 different gemstones, offering them to the young girl.

"They will give you talents, gifts that aren't human per say. These will give you boosts, give you powers as if you were a Deity, whether it be-"

His voice couldn't be heard by anyone except for (Your Name) and him.

"If you do end up dying, the object I have so graciously gifted you, and powers of these stones, will carry onto your life in the afterlife with you."

(Your Name) considered the option, a grin beginning to spread across their face as they began to like the idea the more they thought of it.

"All you have to do, is promise me that you will obey my every single command, whether it be in the afterlife or overworld. As long as I'm in power, you will have to be my best follower, worship me. Do you agree to these terms?"

He held his hand out, for the child to take and shake.

The last thing (Your Name) could remember is shaking his hand.

The last thing it could remember, is the wicked smirk that grew upon its face.

"My oh my child, you are just as naive as I thought..."

{Yeah I was kidding when I said deity was a nickname ;). It may be a nick name to others, but there is some truth to it. We love a (hopefully good?) backstory lore!}
