I watched as the plane lifted off the ground. I was in first class and I was ready for this 5-hour flight. During the flight, I read for a little bit, then I decided to sketch but I mainly slept."Wake up hunny we have landed." The flight attendant shook me awake. I rubbed my eyes and picked up Mr Cuddles, I may be 16 but I can't sleep without him. "Hello New York" I looked out of the window and smiled as the sun shone through.
I stepped out of the plane; a gust of heat washed over me. I felt good, I felt ready for this new start. Walking into the airport, handing the security my passport and then making my way into the lounge.
I didn't have a phone so I didn't really know where to go or what to do but I remember Debra said that one of my brothers would be waiting for my plane to land. As I stood at luggage, I saw him. Elijah. My big brother.
He was wearing a suit, he looked very formal and very good. He was my second oldest brother, one thing I remember from being small that he was always my favourite. He was 10 years older than me, so that would make him now 25. I remember him always being happy and lovable, strange for a teenager, but that was him, smiley Eli. But now he looked cold, intimidating and angry, and like he could kill with one look. He was layered with tattoos and I saw a gun in his waistband.
What happened in those eleven years?
Why was I scared to say hi to my brother?
Awkwardly I stood there, hoping he would see me and come over first. When he didn't, I walked over to him,
"Eli?" I asked, I saw his shoulders tense and he slowly turn around. He looked at me. His eyes were filled with emotion, but his face was cold and harsh. I looked at the floor as I felt my eyes well up.
"Hey sorellina" (little sister). I wrapped my arms around him, he tensed in my hug, seeming like he didn't know what to do, until he wrapped his arms around me. This is the first hug I have had in years, and it felt amazing. I missed my brother a lot.
"I missed you Eli." I whispered into his chest. "I missed you more than you will ever know sorellina" he whispered; I could feel him crying.
After a long, emotional reunion with Elijah, we headed to the parking lot. There sat a beautiful black with green trims, Lamborghini Veneno. "You like her?" Eli asked as I was drooling over his car.
"You always had the best taste Fratello." (brother) I smiled at him. "That I did." He smirked.
"So, how have things been in the past decade?" I laughed. "They've been quite without you here. A lot has changed since you've been in the Valentino household." He responded, both sadness and anger in his tone. "What do you mean?" I asked hoping. "After you left: Dad and Alessandro through themselves into work, Lorenzo took up the role of mom, the twins were quiet but now don't really interact with the family that much, However Matteo is still the troublemaker you can remember." I looked at him, I felt so bad. I know it's not exactly my fault, but I still feel responsible.
He continued "4 years ago, Dad was in Russia on business, and he died. I'm sorry." He rubbed his arm on my shoulder as a tear rolled down my face. "H-How did he?" He shook his head, "I don't know, but since then Ales took over the family business and I'm his second." I smiled, "that's cool Eli, I always remember your passion for the business, even though I didn't, still don't, actually know what it is" we both laughed.
As we pulled up to the mansion, I began to get flashbacks of me here as a small child, both good and bad memories. I wiped the tear from my cheek and got out the car.
