Ellie took me to a park. It was around 6 in the afternoon, and it started to snow. Luckily, we sat under one of the platforms.
I had on a hoodie but Ellie didn't, she started to get shiver.
"You cold Ellie?" I said, leaning on one of the poles that hold up the platform.
"Just a little." She was shivering a lot, sitting next to me.
"Well here you go." I took off my hoodie and put it around her.
She smiled at me and didn't say anything. There was a small silence but Ellie spoke up.
"Why are you so nice to me?" She had stopped shivering.
"What do you mean?" I turned to her.
"We just met but you're being nice to me."
"I mean, i've never really had a 'friend' before. Guess i just don't want to lose this one."
She smiled at me and leaned on my arm.
"You're warm." She said.
I wrapped my arm around her.
"Are you? Warm?"
"Now I am." She looked up at me, and I had this weird feeling. Is this what being actually happy feels like?
---
After the snow stopped we got out from underneath the platform, just to be greeted by Joel, again."Hey kiddo, you okay?" He said to her but giving me a mean glance.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" Ellie answered as I leaned on my crutches.
"Just don't want you hanging around people you don't know-" He looked at me for a second.
I got irritated so I interrupted him.
"You've gotta be fucking kidding me. You know what? I'll just go. Didn't realize how big of a problem it was that I was around."
"Logan-" Ellie tried to get me to stay.
"See you around, Ellie." I said, walking away in my crutches, giving a side glance at Joel.
This was the quickest I've moved in them, and for good reason.-Ellie's POV-
As I saw Logan walk away, I got angry at Joel.
"What the fuck Joel?"
"Now Ellie I-"
"Why can't you just leave me be! I'm old enough to have my own friends without you constantly being there. You're not like this with Jesse or Dina, so what's the problem?"
"I think that boy is bad news-"
"Why? Is it because he came here all fucked up? Because the way I see it, he was just trying to save himself!"
"ELLIE!" Joel shouted at me.
"I don't want you hanging around that boy again, do you understand?"
"Are you fucking kidding me-"
"Do you understand?!"
"No, Joel, I don't understand."
I said, walking away, beginning to cry into Logan's hoodie.I sat on a street corner, crying but I heard familiar steps coming up to me.
-Logan's POV-
"Hey, you okay?" I saw Ellie crying.
"Yeah, i'm fine." She kept sniffing.
I sat next to her, rubbing her back trying to comfort her.
"I got tears all over your hoodie."
I chuckled softly.
"It's okay, you can keep it."
She looked at me, in excitement.
"Really? Thank you." Her eyes lit up.
"Yeah don't mention it."
There was a silence.
"So, you hungry?" I asked Ellie.
"Starving."
"You like beef jerky?"
As I asked she immediately turned to me.
"It's my favorite."
I smiled.
"Alright then, come on." I got up, holding my hand up to help her.
She still walked slowly cause of my crutches.
I always though that was a really kind thing to do.We began to walk to my place. Ellie had a smile one her face that didn't go away, and that made me, happy.
