Let's talk Pokémon

Yooo everyone, yes you better believe I'm making a random chapter to discuss the Pokemon presentation that just happened lmao

So, first of all

Actually, where do I start?

Let me begin by saying that holy shit that Direct was WAY beyond what I was expecting, I kept my expectations low for this so getting Sinnoh confirmed for two separate games, I-

Well frankly, I never thought I'd live to see the day

ANYWAY

I'll start by talking about the Diamond and Pearl remakes: Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, hohooo

So firstly, I'm genuinely surprised they actually went and made Sinnoh remakes, but it's a pleasant surprise to be sure - more so for a lot of other people, because

I'll tell you something

(and please have mercy on me for this)

But I've never actually played a Gen 4 game

But hey, I was planning on getting a gen 4 game anyway, but now that remakes are announced I'll get one of them. Probably Brilliant Diamond actually, imma go with that one

Now
I know that opinions are looking a bit clashy on this, but I mean the point of this chapter is really for me to give my opinions and then to discuss what you guys think too, yeah?

And from what we've seen in the trailers, I gotta say that there aren't a lot of bad things for me to say. Like sure, I'm no gen 4 expert as I already said, so I can't talk about nostalgia - but the art style of the world in general looks nice, and-

Okay, let's be honest, we can't progress here without me addressing the elephant in the room
(Dammit I love that phrase, pfheh)

The chibi-style overworld models.

So, the chibi thing is a change in the models from recent games, and in my opinion, they are overly-chibi. That said tho, Gen 6 had models that looked similar (although not that bad)

It kinda just annoys me that people are gonna hate on the games just for that though

The overall style though, down to the animation upon starting a battle, seems to be really well done and nicely capturing of the same feel and detail of the originals. But again, disclaimer, I'm not qualified to talk about nostalgia so meh

And as a final note, I'll say that I do like the names. I know some people don't, but I think the titles are sweet

NOW THEN, TO THE OTHER GAME THEY ANNOUNCED

POKEMON LEGENDS: ARCEUS

HOLY CRAP
LIKE????

I didn't think they'd actually make a BOTW-style Pokemon game, but this looks like something to truly behold

But an open-world Pokemon game like that, and set in the far-distant past of the Pokemon world? That's something I've briefly dreamt of before, but I didn't think we'd ever get to see it in a game. I'm really excited for it, looks like it's gonna be a hell of a lot of fun and a new twist to the Pokemon games. (And hopefully will add some good story to the Pokemon series too)

One thing I took away from the trailers tho was that the framerate, shading + lighting quality and model detail was pretty poor, and a lot of other people pointed it out too. But I'm not really sure why people are that surprised, since the game's most likely far from finished. Most gameplay trailers tend to show gameplay in early development phases, so I guess we'll wait to see the differences in future trailers and release. (Hopefully the remake models might see some changes too, but I wouldn't put money on it)

And after seeing all that, I nearly forgot about Pokemon Snap completely lmao
I know that was announced a while ago, but I just gotta talk about it and point out that aaa it looks so pretty, especially underwater

Though I'll probably hold off a bit on buying Pokemon Snap, simply because there's just a ton of other titles to buy

Anyway, that's really what I think about what we've seen from the presentation here today. But what about you guys, what are you all thinking about the new games and the remakes? Are you going to buy the remake games, and if so, Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl?

That's all I've got for this chapter, but I hope you enjoyed reading it. And hey, I hope you also enjoyed the stuff that was shown today. Let me know what you think, but hey, it looks like it's going to be a good year for Pokemon.
