My brush ran through my hair for the 8th time this morning, I was getting ready to leave for Walton.

"Allison! We're running late!" Dad called from downstairs.

I sighed before putting my brush in my bag, I than grabbed my bags before heading down.

"Allison." Dad sighed once he saw what I was wearing.

"What? I am not wearing that stupid dress." I said arms crossed.

"Fine. Hurry we're going to be late." I rolled my eyes as he shooed me out the front door.

We sat in the chapel for the opening ceremony, we were in the front by the teachers and Mr. Nolan.

I wasn't really paying attention, I was honestly more focused on my pants than anything else.

I must have been in a trance cause I jumped when dad bumped my shoulder.

Once I looked up I saw 2 boys holding banners, there was a cute one with high cheek bones but not as high as mine.

"Ladies and gentlemen boys... the Light of Knowledge." Mr. Nolan spoke out.

An elder man, went to the row beside us and lit one boys candle with his, and it continued.

"One hundred years ago in 1859, 41 boys sat in this room..." The boys moved away to put the banners up.

"And were asked the same question... that now greets you at the start of each semester." I slumped down in my seat.

It was not lady like but I didn't follow the social cues of being a woman.

"Gentlemen what are the Four Pillars?" Mr. Nolan asked as the boys stood up.

"Tradition. Honour. Discipline. Excellence."

They sat back down as Mr. Nolan continued.

"In her first year Welton Academy graduated five students. Last year
we graduated 51. And more than 75 percent of those..." He took a pause.

"Went on to the Ivy League." I looked at dad.

"This- This kind of accomplishment is the result of fervent dedication to the principles taught here." I twirled my ring around my finger.

"This is why you parents have been sending us your sons. This is why we are the best... preparatory school in the United States." I rolled my eyes.

"As you know our beloved Mr. Portius of the English Department retired last term. You will have the opportunity later to
meet his replacement Mr John Keating
himself an honours graduate of this school." Mr. Keating stood up.

"And who for the past several years has been teaching... at the highly regarded
Chester School in London." He sat back down.

"I would also like to introduce, Allison Reid, daughter of alumni and generous donator of the school, Harry Reid." Dad motioned me to stand up so I did.
