I put on the lilac dress I had gotten earlier that day and ivory white heels Stacy had lent me. I felt good. I felt pretty despite everything that was falling apart in my life right now.
I tried to apply my make up but my hands were shaking so I stuck with minimal eyeliner, mascara, lipstick, and coverup. Even doing my hair was hard so I ended up doing a half up half down braided hairstyle leaving the the rest to flow effortlessly in natural waves down my back.
Between everything, I couldn't stop thinking about Kevin. He was the one who sent the letter, the one who recruited Michael and sent him into that party. He's been watching me, knows where I am. I couldn't help but wonder if I'm even safe at all. After what happened, there's no telling what he'd do to me or anyone close to me now.
I sat fiddling with my thumbs overthinking it all when Cole came knocking on my door.
"Come in," I said hoping he couldn't hear the weariness in my voice.
He gently turned the door knob and opened the door. He looked stunning in his tan suit and gelled hair. He wore a light blue button down and darker navy blue tie that seemed to bring out his eyes. His feet were dressed in navy oxford dress shoes to match. He was the epitome of summer, like the colors of the ocean as it meets the sand, and for some odd reason he almost looked older than he was--wiser among his years.
I admired him as he was admiring me and my look. To him she was gorgeous in lilac and ivory bringing out a new beauty to the colors, like a rare flower found in a meadow deep in the forest.
"You look nice," he commented looking down at his feet to hide his flaming cheeks.
I smiled, "Thank you, you too."
"Are you all ready to go?" he asked now looking back at me.
"Yup." I gulped in attempt to swallow my fears.
He lent out a hand to me and so I took it as he led me through the house to his parked car.
I rested my head on the window as he drove silently to the church for the rehearsal and watched as the sun still beamed down on the streets glistening off other cars. The church we arrived at wasn't going to be the same one Ashley would be getting married at. Instead she was getting married at their family home at Lake Tahoe. This was just so she and everyone in the wedding could get an idea of what was going to happen.
I sat in the pews and watched as everyone did their part. Cole walked down the aisle with Katie as she was one of the brides maids and he was a groomsman. Ryan followed with one of Ashley's best friends and Chandler had came up with another girl as the ring barer and the flower girl. Stacy was there too and after she went up to pretend to say a reading, she sat in the corner talking to
It was nice to watch them go through everything without the actual thing happening just yet. It got me thinking if I ever got married who I'd have as my bridesmaids or who would be my flower girl and ring barer. In fact, who would give me away.
Thinking about all that was getting me depressed and I just had to think back to mine and Chase's conversation from earlier to get me scared again. I wondered where he was staying and just how had he been spying on me.
Soon, the rehearsal finished and it was finally time for dinner. My growling stomach cheered in anticipation of food.
"Hungry huh?" Cole laughed as he heard the noises my stomach made.
"Just a little," I replied laughing about it as well.
"It's a good thing the food will be amazing! It's an Italian restaurant so it'll be big portions too!"
