Lake Carter grew up in 10 different foster homes, 5 different schools, and one default orphanage; all based in or around Miami, Florida.
She wasn't always the way she was, but after living in a home of abuse and negligence, things took a turn for the worst. She gave up on everything and started doing illegal things, but she didn't care, even if she secretly wanted a place to call home and a family to call hers.
She never knew much about love or family, but she soon finds out what they both mean when she travels across the country with a boy she is slowly falling for.
She can't imagine leaving him, but when a particular past foster parent comes looking for her she knows she might have to. No matter how much she is falling for him, she knows she has to keep him and everyone she has befriended safe.
