Third person POV:

The two boys were in Kuroo's backyard, and had been playing volleyball for at least an hour already. Kenma was soaked in sweat and was starting to get uncomfortable. He jogged to get the ball that the taller male had spiked, wincing at the jelly-like state his legs were in. The setter turned to his best-friend, giving him a dead look, and walked to the steps of the porch before placing himself down on the wooden porch.

Kuroo laughed as he watched the tired boy slump in his spot. He himself was covered in sweat and his legs were aching from all the jumping he had done. "Do you want a drink?" he asked the smaller teen. Kenma's head shot up before he nodded it vigorously. The raven-haired boy smiled and walked up the steps of the porch, heading inside to the kitchen. He walked in to see his mother pouring smoothies into large glasses.

She glanced at her son and laughed at his hair, sticking onto his forehead. He pouted jokingly. "Stop laughing at me" he said, laughing at the end. "But you look so good Tetsu" the woman laughed. "go take this out to Kenma as well" she said, handing him two of the smoothies. "Apple, right?" Kuroo asked, checking that it was the setters preferred flavour. His mother giggled and nodded, shooing him back outside. "THANK YOU" he yelled out as he stepped outside.

Kenma looked up from his phone that he had pulled out a few minutes ago. His eyes sparkled when he lay them on the drink in Kuroo's hands. The middle blocker smiled at the sight and handed Kenma his drink before sitting himself next to the boy. After Kenma had taken his first sip of the beverage, he looked up to his closest friend, admiring the way his skin glowed in the afternoon sun.

"I remember when your mum first made this for me" the small game-obsessed boy said. "Oh really?" the older teen challenged, curious. "Yeah..."

flashback

Kenma, 9 years old, was in his best-friend's house. Kuroo, 10 years old, was watching the younger boy play a new game that he had been excited to show him. "BOYS" they heard from the kitchen. Kenma paused the game and got up to follow the bedhead down stairs to the kitchen. The two boys walked in to see Mrs. Kuroo with two drinks sitting on the counter. Kuroo jumped to sit on one of the bar stools, Kenma trailing behind and climbing onto the chair. The mother placed the drink in front of them. "You kids have been upstairs all day. Try this, I wanted to try making some drinks so tell me if you like it.

The smaller boy looked at the drink in hesitation but glanced at his friend, seeing him already drinking the smoothie. "Is this apple?" Kuroo asked his mother. She nodded from the sink, cleaning up the blender she had used. Immediately, Kenma's face lit up at the sound of apple. He reached for the drink and took a sip. His eyes went wide once the flavour hit his taste buds. He continued to drink it, excited by the amazing drink. He finished it quickly and place the glass back onto the counter.

Kuroo looked at him in shock, confused as to how fast the boy had gulped the drink. His eyes followed the younger boy as Kenma jumped off the seat and ran up to the young mother. kenma hugged her, squeezing her as hard as he could. "THANK YOU FOR THE DRINK AUNTIE" the small boy yelled. Mrs. Kuroo looked down at the youngling and laughed lightly. "You're welcome sweetie" she said, a proud smile on her face. Kuroo looked at his best-friend in awe, happy to see him enjoying something.

Kenma let go of the mother and looked at Kuroo. The boy looked at his parent and spoke up. "Thank you mama" he said with a smile on his face. His mother smiled a her son. "You two go back upstairs and enjoy yourselves now" she said, gesturing for them to go back to Kuroo's room. After the bedhead had gotten down from his seat, they both went back upstairs and began to play some more games.
