James was quietly listening to music. He was also reading a book about Quidditch, which he absolutely loved. In the background Peter was loudly snoring and Remus and Sirius were discussing a prank. Brawns and brains (and honestly James couldn't tell which should be which).
Next to him was an opened box of chocolate, he ate from. Sometimes he scribbled something an a piece of paper, which contained his plan for the next match, which took place tomorrow morning. After he was done, he turned off his lamp, and went to sleep.
In the morning he automatically turned of the alarm clock, and quietly got his uniform. With the paper, he wrote on runned off, straight to the Great Hall. He sat down and scanned trought the room. At the table, only one of his team mate were sitting, Marlene McKinnon, who was one of the best beaters in the school. At the Slytherin table, the whole team was laughing and grinning. Their captain Parkinson was discussing something with their keeper, Zambini.
Crabbe and Goyle, the two beaters were laughing at some joke, one of the other chaser, Nott said. On the furthest from their team members were sitting, Barty Crouch Jr, and Regulus Black, their seeker. When James looked at the boy, his stomach rolled, and he felt his cheeks flushing. The younger Black slightly looked like his brother, but not the exact same. They both had strong jawlines, but Regulus's other features were softer than his brothers. His grey eyes were strictly looking at his plate, what contained scrambled eggs with bacon, and his black hair which fell into his face.
Suddenly the door opened with Gideon and Fabian Prewett bursting in, followed by Sirius, who was still yawning. Shacklebolt was talking to Mary Macdonald whose hair was a complete mess.
'Morning!' Sirius sat next to James. Kingsley nodded and drank some coffee. The Prewett twins started to eat, and Mary and Marlene were giggling about something.
'Oi! Everyone!' James shouted at everyone. 'Here is the plan, read it for yourself, and if you have questions, ask!'
The paper got into everyone's hand and everyone nodded. After they ate, they went to pick up their broomsticks. The match started, and Remus narrated with only a few curse slipping out his mouth.
James saw Regulus from the corner of his eyes, looking in a certain direction, then starting to lean foward to catch the small snitch. The Slytherins cheered, for this, but then Marlene beat into a bludger, so hard, Regulus, hadn't even got the chance to stay on the broom. James turned around and saw Regulus's body on the ground, but because of not looking foward he hit himself in a ''wall''. His head hurt and the world was spinning, and then his ears started to go silent. Slowly James lost his consciousness and fell of the broom.
When he opened his eyes, he saw blurry figures, indicating his glasses weren't on him. He reached out to maybe get it, but his hands failed him. Suddenly someone put his glasses on him.
'Good mornin' mate'. Sirius cheerfully said 'you were out the whole day.'
'Who won?' James muttered, with panic. He was looking out for this match so much, he wasn't going to loose.
'Well after you two fell off, Mary got the Snitch. We won, mate' Sirius laughed.
'Oh yeah. How's your brother?' James asked, after totally forgetting, about what happened to the young seeker.
'Ask him yourself, he's up.' Sirius nodded to the bed next to them.
James automatically recognized Regulus's profile. The younger Black was looking right up the ceiling with a frown.
'Oi Reg! You ok?' James asked withal louder voice.
'I can hear you, you don't need to shout, Potter.' Regulus firm voice answered. 'But yes. Am ok.'
'Sirius, off you go.' Madam Pomfrey came in. 'They need rest.'
Sirius tried to say something, but nodded to him.
'It's fine.'
Sirius before leaving the infirmary winked at him.
'Okay, dears. I will need you to change, since you are both conscious now, if you need help just tell me.'
After they both changed, they sat back on their beds.
'So, how could you not see the bludger?'
James asked.'How could, you, not see the wall?' Regulus scoffed 'Potter, it's no secret that Marlene is the best beater. I never had the chance.'
'Okay, sorry, I just wanted to start a conversation! Not everything is an attack, for Merlin's sake.' James turned away. He realized that Sirius left a book on his drawer, for which he was very thankful.
He opened the book but the words didn't reach his brain. This was common for him, when he was genuinely not interested in something. He read and read, but his brain didn't process it.
'What's your favourite Quidditch team?' A quiet voice asked.
