The air was chilly on the ground, and the wind blew real hard, so James considered himself lucky for not forgetting his jacket.

He walked towards the Great Lake and sat next to its shore. The surface of the water was calm, only some waves disturbed it, caused by the giant squid.

How will I ever tell Sirius? He tought The last time he found out, he was infuriated.

Would he ever forgive me?

After all I really am ''dating his brother''. I don't know if I'd forgive myself.

But I missed Regulus so much.

Yes, but Sirius always stood up for me, why would I abandon him? He would never do that for me.

James felt the guilt arise in him.

I'll just simply tell him.

He should be happy for my happiness.

That's what friends are for.

James stood up and walked up to the Common Room. As the Fat Lady let him in he went straight up to the dormitory, where he found Sirius brushing his hair.

'Mate we need to talk.' James sat on his bed. 'Please wait till I finish everything.'

'Is there a problem, Prongs?'

'Well. Just please don't interrupt.'

'You got it.' Sirius sat infront of him.

'It's about your brother. I don't want to go behind your back anymore, so I'll tell you straight; I really like him.'

'What do you mean?'

'I mean that I love him. Don't get me wrong Pads, I love you too, but I love him in a different way.' James looked down.

'Obviously you love him.' Sirius's eyes started to wet. 'Everyone loves him. My mother, my father, my whole family. It's no surprise you would too, eventually.'

'Pads, just because I love him romantically, does not mean I love you any less. As you said before I love you like a brother.'

'Yeah, well you are not.' Sirius stood up, and before he left, he looked back. 'Do what you want, I don't care.'

A week gone by with Sirius not talking to him at all. James felt the crushing weight, of the 'loss' of his best friend sitting on his shoulders tearing him down. James no longer sat with the marauders, he surrounded himself with Ced and Lily, whom were assuring and supporting, yet it wasn't the same.

They did not have the same humour as Sirius, or the sarcasm of Remus, or the helpfulness of Peter. They did not throw their food at him, or scolded him, and neither did they laugh at his shittiest jokes. They weren't as dramatic  as the marauders, and that made him feel empty.

James needed his best friends.

'Guys! I want to talk!' He yelled after the three as they were leaving the Great Hall.

'What now, James?' Sirius's said sharply.

'I wanted to say sorry. You guys are the best people in the world, and I need you. But I simply can't control who I fall inlove with, can I?'

'You can't I suppose.'

'Sirius, say you are sorry, as we practiced.' Remus nudged him with his elbow.

'I am sorry James, for reacting as a 5 year old girl.' Sirius said in a monotone voice.

'No problem Sirius, but were this your or Remus's words, because it seems like something he would say.'

'Of course it wasn't mine.' Sirius rolled his eyes '5 year old girls are much more mature than I acted.'

At this all of them cackled and they hugged.

'Merlin, I'm happy you don't hate me.'
