It was a late night at work, normally I never stayed past sunset but my boss, Mr. Sharp, asked me to stay late. I had just finished tearing apart a '91 Oldsmobile when I could feel eyes on me. "Max, could you come over here please?" Mr. Sharp was a weasel of a man, just looking at him gave me the creeps. Before he could tell me what he needed, Mr. Sharp listened to the motorcycles in the distance that were growing louder as they drew nearer. Greaaaaat! Now he's got me mixed up in some crazy scheme. The look of terror on his face made me start to worry. "What did you do?" I asked him sternly, but there were five motorcycles sitting in front of us. He was unable to say anything now. All the men who arrived on motorcycles looked at one another before three of them dismounted their Harleys. As they began to walk toward us I looked at Mr. Sharp, who mouth "I'm sorry Max." I returned my attention to our unexpected guests, I didn't expect them. One of the men walked up to me and draped his arm around my shoulders, leading me away from everyone else. Chibs, as I later learned, had straight black hair and scars on each cheek. "What's your name sweetheart?" His thick Scottish accent soothed my nerves. "Max." It came out like a whisper, but I think he could tell I was still uneasy. He continued asking me random questions, but the feeling of being watched was still in my mind. At first I thought it was Sharp but now I know it was someone else, hiding amongst the piled up cars. We made eye contact, it wasn't hard seeing as his eyes were large and ice blue. He looked a bit deranged but for some reason I wasn't scared. "Wait! She's my best mechanic! She's worth way more than what I owe you!" Sharp yelled loud enough for me to hear. Did this ass hole just try to trade me off for a debt?? Chibs didn't stop talking though, he had pretended he didn't hear anything. "What did you just say douche bag?!" One of the men yelled back, clearly irritated by Sharps comment.

The sound of a gunshot rang through the junkyard, making Chibs run to the sides of his friends. I quickly followed behind him but once we reached the open area, I felt hands wrap around my body halting me to a stop. It was the man from the shadows, he was surprisingly gentler than I would have guessed. "Calm down sweetheart." He whispered in my ear, I could feel his hot breath on my skin. All of a sudden I saw Mr. Sharp laying face down in the dirt, blood pooling around his head. I wasn't very upset, he wasn't the best guy to work for and the lack of reaction must have been obvious as the man from the shadows released me. I looked up at the two men standing over his lifeless body and they both locked eyes with me before walking my way. The younger of the two had shoulder length dirty blonde hair and was well built from what I could tell. At least I can die looking at someone hot. Once they had gotten close to me, the younger of the two reached out a hand. After I put my hand in his, he did something completely unexpected. He gently kissed the top of my hand, which threw me for a loop as I was still in blue jeans and a white tank top, both stained black from working on cars for years. "Hey darlin', what's your name?" His smile made my heart race once more, I could feel the blood rushing to my cheeks. Play it cool Max! Get yourself together! Before I could answer Chibs was is his ear, clearly whispering more than just my short name.

Shortly after the group of men circled up and begun whispering not too far from where I stood. I tried my best to look down at the ground but some pull drew my head up. Every time I looked up I saw the man that made my heart race with just a flash of his smile. He looked me up and down several times, as if he were trying to figure me out just by my appearance. When they had presumably came to a decision they broke up the circle. Three of them tended to Sharps body, the older one road off on his motorcycle and the younger one came over to me. What in the world is he doing? I thought to myself as I too tried to figure him out by appearance, but that was shot out the window the minute he kissed the top of my hand like a gentleman, very different from what one would seem. "So, what's your name?" I asked, not thinking he might have just came over to finish me like Sharp. "My name's Jax Teller." He said with that heart throbbing smile. "We were talking and Sharp said your his best mechanic. Seeing as now your boss won't be around anymore, we were wondering if you'd be interested in coming to work for us?" He asked as he stared me in the eyes, right into my soul. "What all would I have to do?" I asked nervously, as I wasn't sure what kind of job they really wanted me for. "Well, most of us work on our own bike's. But we do need someone who can come in, answer phones and take money. How's that sound?" He finished, never breaking eye contact.
