Nobody's POV 

"Well, someone has to do the work for this family!" Techno shouted at his little brother causing the younger one to flinch backwards. Techno had left for a few days to gather some ores and hadn't informed Tommy of where he was going, obviously Tommy was very upset and anxious for his brother. 

Techno was mostly joking, but it still hurt Tommy all the same. 

"You don't have to do everything yourself, Techno, we can help you! I can help you!" Tommy said in desperation.

"You?! YOU help ME?!!" Techno said incredulously.

"Boys." Phil scolded, looking up from his book and stopping the conversation before anything could get out of hand.

Wilbur walked through the room meaning to go to the kitchen and get some food, he paused at the tension. 

"Hey, Tech, good to see you again.... uh, so what's going on?"

"Nothing, nothing is going on, Wilbur." Techno spat. 

"It's not nothing, Techno!" Tommy shouted.

"Tommy!" Phil shouted, raising his tone to match the others, Tommy shot an unhappy look at his father, but did not say another word. 

Wilbur awkwardly chuckled a bit before turning and heading back towards his room, completely forgetting about wanting any food in his desperation to avoid the rising tension. 

Techno simply scoffed and sat down across from Phil, opening a book. 

Tommy threw his hands up and made a beeline for the kitchen, pouring himself a glass of water and sitting at the counter. He felt hurt, he just wanted to help his family, he just cared, why was that such a horrible thing? Why couldn't Techno see that? His eyes filled with tears, but he quickly wiped them away, he couldn't cry.... he had to be strong,

strong like Techno.

Tommy had nearly fallen asleep at the counter about an hour later when a rustling from the cabinets beside him caused him to snap back to reality. He saw pink out of the corner of his eyes and let out a frustrated sigh before putting his head back down to rest on the cool countertop. He watched as Techno walked around in front of him and headed towards the exit of the kitchen holding a glass of water. Tommy looked away and instead decided to stare at his hands, trying to avoid the sinking feeling in his chest. 

Tommy looked back up towards his brother when he realized Techno was directly in front of him. He jumped a bit and sat straight up as his brother looked at him with a fierceness and anger in his eyes. 

"You help me?" Techno said in a serious tone, "You are weak, you are a child." Techno said with an unnecessary harshness. Techno hadn't enjoyed being scolded by Phil earlier and he was pissed. He wasn't really angry at Tommy himself, he knew the boy just cared for him, but there wasn't any other outlet for his anger. 

Techno, seemingly satisfied, turned and walked away from Tommy, heading out of the kitchen. When Techno was at the doorway Tommy said, "I can do just as much as you can."

Techno froze and there was a beat of silence before Techno said quietly with a bit of cruel humor in his tone, "Fine, go collect some blaze rods, we need them." Techno knew that Tommy would never dare leave the house without someone with him, let alone the dimension. Tommy's anxiety was that bad and Techno decided to use it against him. Techno felt a deep pang of guilt, but he still continued knowing he could just apologize later. 

There was a silence and Techno said, "I knew it," before laughing and leaving the kitchen. 

"Maybe I will," was the only thing Tommy could whisper before breaking down into silent sobs.
