Smaller one shot because I'm working on two super long ones that I'm unmotivated to write for some reason. This takes place after Tommy betrayed Techno and is not canon whatsoever. Also, this is a song fic based on the song I put above! It's based on the part of the song that's at 3:10-3:30. It's the popular TikTok audio that goes, "Bullshit!" "Liar!" so that's there if you want to listen to it, enjoy!
Tommy's POV
Tommy shook as he stood in the snow outside of Techno's cabin, not daring to look up at his eldest brother and father who stood in front of him. Techno's angry words sounded blurred to the boy and he stumbled a bit backwards. Why was he here again?
He remembered coming here to apologize, he hadn't meant to turn his back on Techno, everything in him had wanted to stand by his older brother's side, yet the voice in his head told him otherwise. The voice that had been there ever since Dream had given him that potion in exile.
Glittering black and a taste like ash.
Dream had forced it down his throat after he'd tried to escape exile, Tommy kicking and screaming the whole way. After that the boy had become more submissive, if he didn't rebel or bring his hands up to block the incoming blows and punches from Dream anymore, no one had to know except the masked tyrant.
Tommy had never had it easy, but even through all of it Dream hadn't been powerful enough to break him...
So Dream was left with only one option,
Magic.
And it had worked.
Every time Tommy tried to make a decision for himself, do something that he wanted, something against Dream, the voice would grow so loud, too loud and Tommy could only watch in horror as his body escaped his own control.
That is what had happened that day in the community house, he had wanted nothing more than to stand by Techno and go against the people who had exiled him, yet the voice hadn't wanted that.
The voice had wanted him to abandon Techno.
Tommy thinks that was the moment he realized how powerful Dream was, Tommy wasn't dumb, he knew Dream was the cause of whatever demon was inside of him, but he didn't have the power to do anything about it.
He had wondered why the voice hadn't forced Tommy to turn away from Techno's house when he'd found his brother and father after running from exile.
He wondered how even as Dream searched Techno's house for Tommy, practically taunting him, he wondered why the voice had never told him to reveal himself, to leave with Dream, to allow himself to be dragged back to exile.
And for a while he had believed he'd escaped the voice, overpowered it the day he jumped off of that tower into the water below in Logstedshire.
But Dream had never stopped pulling the strings.
It was only that day in the community house, when the voice came back full force, screaming at him and taking control of him as he inevitably betrayed Techno, his mind screaming to be set free, that he realized the power Dream held.
Dream had let him have freedom, had let him believe he was safe, and then had broke him down all at once....
Just to play with him.
He had tried to explain that to Techno the day his brother and father blew up Lmanburg but his mouth would not form the right words, so he had decided to try again.... today.
His mind had been screaming at him the whole way here to turn around, but Tommy's emotions had been festering for a long while, chipping at the glass that kept him trapped inside his own mind. The glass was cracking.... and Tommy was sick of Dream's bullshit.
