Running out was made easier by the fact that most people had begun fleeing as soon as the man with the gun was restrained and Maya and Jayden had worked their memory spell. We kept running until we reached a crowded area near the Starbucks where we all met. I was glad for the increased miles I was running with Tyler as it allowed me to keep pace with the wolves and only be slightly out of breath by the time we stopped unlike the rest of our group who were breathing heavily.
"Was it me or did it seem as if that man was aiming for our group?" Jayden asked once his breathing had slowed and we started walking in the direction of a local restaurant so we could sit down. I thought about it and realised that while I was in a sort of trance I had noticed that the bullets only came towards my friend's and I, it was luck that I had reacted when I had, though I couldn't remember exactly how I knew, all I could remember was that it was something to do with the water in the fountain and a sense of urgency I felt the closer I got to it.
"It did, I never got a good look at him but he didn't look familiar for me, maybe he just shot in a random direction which just happened to be where we was." I said as we walked into the restaurant. Once we were seated in a booth and had a chance to put our bags down I took a deep breath to shake off the events of today. Although I managed to stop anything bad happening, we could have died or been seriously injured and I was so happy that none of us were hurt.
Thankful once we ordered food the subject changed to what we all wanted to do for the rest of summer and holiday plans which I was grateful for. I smiled up at Tyler as he wrapped his arm around me and reminded me that our families planned to go to Spain in August which was only a few weeks away. The knowledge of this increased my mood tenfold. What was even better was that the hotel we were staying at was owned by Elementals and so I would still be able to practice in private rooms that could only be accessed by supernatural beings. I was so excited, especially as my grandparents were going to meet us there and I haven't been able to see them since Christmas.
We all headed home earlier than planned at three, saying goodbye to everyone and telling Tyler and Tia I'd see them later for dinner. I had already spoken to my parents on the phone and tried to explain what had happened with my powers, we realised they'd heard about what happened on the news once we all started getting multiple messages from our parents after our food arrived asking where we were and if we were all safe. This was also the reason that we decided to go home early and meet up again soon because our parents were worried.
I was smothered by my parents as soon as I walked in the door, both of them wanting to check for themselves that I wasn't injured at all despite the fact that on the news and radio it had clearly stated that there was no casualties or fatalities. It was sweet though, knowing they both loved me enough to need to check for themselves.
I decided another shower was needed once I got up to my room since it was a hot, humid day and we had run to get out of the shopping centre and we were in the middle of it. Once I got out, creamed my skin and put on my underwear, I pulled on a pair of black jeans and a red crop top and socks. I made a quick phone call before heading downstairs to play with the twins while my parents got ready.
We decided to leave early and ended up getting to the pack border before six, after being stopped briefly by the warriors on patrol we drove the rest of the way up to the house which was about a ten minute walk from the pack house where they all had rooms on the top floor because they were the Alpha's family.
It didn't take long for us to reach the Sanchez' house, I took the twins to the living room, calling down Tyler and Tia to help me watch them as my parents went to go help Nikki and Raf finish up on dinner. I set the gift bag that I'd gotten for the baby while we were shopping near the bookcase and out of the twins reach. Looking up when I hear the sound of footsteps coming towards the living room I smile at the two who like me had showered and changed their clothes. "I'm going to tell my parents at dinner that I've decided to continue my training a few days earlier than planned," I see both Tyler and Taylor going to object but I stop them before they can get a word in. "I'm fine now, don't worry about me, I've had a few days to rest and I can already feel my energy is back but I need to continue learning, I need to be ready."
