Author Pov. (Jaemin)

He was unexpectedly enjoying his birthday party. At least most of it. He didn't like that Jeno wasn't there, but it's not like he can be mad. He literally uninvited him. In the moment It felt like the right thing to do, but now it didn't. The blonde one missed his friend. As much fun as he had, something, or more someone, was missing, making it feel incomplete. He excused himself, saying he would go to the toilet. But he just needed some time for himself and went to chenles bedroom, letting himself fall down on the said boys bed.

"You don't seem too happy"
a voice calls him out from behind, making him lift his body and put on a half fake half real smile.
"No, no. I'm happy. I didn't expect to like it, but i do, really. It's just.."
"You miss Jeno."
The boy blushed at the said words.
Didn't have to call me out like that, did ya?

"Well you said that, not me."
Renjun puffed out air at that.
"And you didn't deny it."
Jaemin tilted his head a little showing the boy in front of him a sad smile.
"I didn't."

"It's just, I was throwing this party because of him. And now he isn't even there."
Renjun sat down as well, on a chair that was placed in front of a desk. He had never been here before and didn't wanna make himself too comfortable at a 'strangers' house.

"Why didn't he come?"
Jaemin looked at the wall to his left, a little ashamed.
"I uninvited him."
Renjuns Eyebrows furrowed immediately.
"Why would you do that if you threw the party because of him?"
It really sounded even more stupid as the boy said it out loud, then Jaemin already thought.

"He would have cancelled his date with Yuqi for my birthday"
Jaemin said while letting out a sigh.
"So what? He would've met her another time. They can go on a date every day. But you turn eighteen only once. You are important to him, it's not fair that you make him miss that."
Jaemin let himself fall on the bed in frustration.
"Aarg, I know! I know it was stupid, what am I supposed to do now? My birthday's already over."

"I just don't understand why you did it."
Jaemin stayed quiet for a second before he spoke up.
"I don't get it"
he started almost too quiet for Renjun to hear.
"I don't get why I mean so much to him. I don't get why he cares so much about me. I don't get why he would cancel his plans for me. I'm not worth it. I don't want to be special to him, because it makes him do things that he will regret once he finds out I'm just not worth his time and effort."

Renjun stayed quiet.
He didn't know that Jaemin has such a low self esteem.
He always seemed so happy. Renjun would've never guessed that the boy doesn't think of himself as someone treasurable.

"Well you don't get to decide how important you are to someone. And if he'd ever regret it, which will never happen, that's his problem not yours."
Jaemin knew he was right.

"Here."
Jaemin lifted his upper body from the bed and looked at a big present that Renjun held to him.
He looked at the boy in confusion.
"Don't tell me you thought I didn't get you a present. Do you really think that low of me? Gotta say, hurts a little."
Jaemin chuckled a little and accepted the present, carefully opening it.
His heart was picking up its pace as he perceived what he was holding.
"T-This is.. really beautiful.."
Renjun was blushing madly but ignored it, since he succeeded in making the other smile.
"This is us right?"
Renjun only nodded, still a little embarrassed.

Jaemin observed the painting he got from the other once again, following the lines with his soft fingers. It was them, together at the park where they went today, as well as the first time they hung out, or better skipped class. It was really beautiful and made a warmth rest in Jaemins chest.

He placed the painting behind him and stood up, walking towards Renjun.
To say the older was shocked as the boy quietly sat on his lap and embraced him in a soft yet passionate hug, would be an understatement.

"Thank you."

They both stayed quiet and Renjun begun to loosen up.
Jaemin took in the others scent. It smelled different then Jenos. He liked it though.

Wait. Why was he thinking about Jenos scent?

He quickly shrugged off that thought and concentrated at the boy he was holding.
He felt warm. It was still a feeling he needed to get used to, not like with-

He lifted his head and looked up, right into the others face who looked like he wanted to say something but didn't know how to.
"I-"
He rattled and looked away again.
"I don't think I'm ready for this whole.. boyfriend thing yet. But I like you Jaemin. There is no use in hiding it. And even if I'm not ready to have a boyfriend yet.. I.. I wanted to ask you if you want to.. I don't know.. d-date me?"
Jaemin was quiet. Renjun was quiet.
Jaemin was shook. Happy shook. He didn't expect this. But he was so happy to hear those words.
After Jaemin stayed quiet a little too long for Renjun to endure, he looked at the boys face.
The younger was staring at him with so much love and warmth as his face got closer and he felt their lips connect.

Renjuns eyes immediately shut. Both of them allowed themselves to sink into the moment, the kiss. Renjun now held Jaemin tightly.

"JAEMIN! YOU HAVE A SPECIAL VISITOR."
Chenles loud scream made Jaemin break the kiss.
He looked at Renjun and gave him a warm smile.
Then both of them stood up and went down stairs.

Jaemin felt his heart race at the sight.
He looked at his watch for a quick second. It was 11:20pm.

"Happy birthday Nana."

Jaemin felt his eyes getting a little glossy and immediately ran toward the boy, jumping into the his arms.
His face was resting in the others neck, taking in his scent with deep quiet breaths, comforting him immediately, making him forget he was about to cry.
God how much he missed his scent.

"You didn't really think you could get rid of me just like that, did you?"
The boy he was hugging said, more as a whisper into Jaemins ear, making that spot tingle.

"Thank you Jeno. I really needed you to be here today."

"I know. I did too."
