the next Monday, i had a meeting with Ian, Anthony, and Lisa regarding the incident, and i assured them that everything was fine and that my mention of Jack's name was completely by accident.

that wasn't entirely true, but i wasn't too keen on sharing the real reason for my breakdown.

Jack stopped talking to me altogether.

i thought i should've felt better, but i didn't.

in fact, i almost felt worse.

it was like he was planning something.

nevertheless, i continued to work to the best of my ability.

i didn't stop wearing sweatshirts for a while. even after my cuts healed, the scars were just too visible for me to feel comfortable.

Shayne had asked me to join himself and Damien for lunch. although i was wary about being alone with two men, i accepted.

it was a nice, warm day with a breeze, so we went to in-n-out and sat outside.

after we got our food, Shane and Damien struck up a conversation about work. I wasn't really listening, instead focusing on eating and thinking about the writers meeting later that day.

"(y/n)? are you listening?" i heard Damien's voice break through my thoughts.

"sorry, i guess i spaced out. what were you saying?"

"i was just wondering if you were going to share any of your ideas in the writers meeting today."

about a week ago, i had told Courtney, Shane and Damien about a few sketch ideas i had. i figured it would be good to run it by them first instead of possibly embarrassing myself in front of everyone at the writers meeting.

"oh, i'm not sure."

i don't want a certain someone deflecting my ideas...

"come on, (n/n). you're ideas are great! i'm sure everyone will love them," Shayne reassured me.

"honestly, i just don't want to talk in the meeting at all. maybe one of you should pitch it for me," i suggested.

"i mean, we'd be happy to help you, but why don't you want to talk?" Damien asked.

"is it...is it because of Jack?" Shayne asked carefully.

"no, of course not!" i quickly denied. "i just don't feel very well, and i would prefer not to talk. that's all."

"oh, do you need to go home? i can take you. i'm sure Ian and Anthony wouldn't mind if they knew why," Shayne offered.

i don't care how much i trust him. i can't be alone in a car with a man.

"thanks for the offer, but i'll be fine. i promise," i gave both men a reassuring smile, hoping they would take that for an answer.

"alright, then, if you're sure. since i already have an idea to pitch, why not let Shayne pitch your ideas for you? does that sound alright?" Damien asked.

"that's perfect. thanks guys. it means a lot."

"of course, dude! we wouldn't leave you hanging like that."
