It was a game of patience and Felix was already losing it. He had knocked several times but he didn't get any reply. Perhaps Chan had taken Brownie for a walk outside. But she was not comfortable yet going out. He was not sure if Chan could fully read her. He felt more and more worried for his pet dog.
Felix knocked once again and waited outside of the gate. His feet tapped on the tiled floor impatiently. He was glaring at Number in front of Chan's door.
A frustrated sigh escaped his lips when he heard no reply.
One thought lead to another and his mind started getting paranoid. What if something had happened to them? What if both of them had fainted and there was no one to help? What if Chan was kidnapped and Brownie was taken away from him forever?
Felix panicked.
He started kicking the door and slamming his fist against it with all his might. The huge wooden rattled with the force of his fist.
"Chan! Brownie!"
Chan and his friend Hongjoong was playing war games like it was the last battle of their life. They both had their headphones on and were screaming through the mouthpiece. Their floors were littered with empty snack packets.
Poor brownie was sitting by the foot of Chan's bed. She had her paws against her ears. Her eyes were wide while staring at the colourful screen.
Despite covering her ears, she often flinched at the sudden burst of shouting from one of the boys. So, when she heard the distant knocking of the door, her head snapped towards the sound. She looked back at the boys to notice that they were still immersed in the game.
She stood up and started tugging at the base of Chan's pants to gain his attention. He kissed his teeth and shook his leg, "Brownie, not now."
But Brownie kept on tugging without giving up. Chan couldn't take it anymore. He threw away his controller and tore off his headset.
"What is wrong with you?! You were behaving fine just a while ago!"
Brownie cowered at his sudden loud voice. She looked towards the door and then at Chan before looking down once again.
Felix had had enough. He started banging his fist repeatedly against the door like a mad man. That was when Chan finally heard it. His eyes softened, realising that Brownie was trying to make him answer the door.
"Oi, oi, oi! You just died!" Hongjoong exclaimed.
The red-haired boy looked up at his friend in annoyance. One cannot just leave in the middle of an intense game. Just because of Chan, Hongjoong had died too. The boy threw his controller across the bed in frustration. He was about to surpass his previous kill count if Chan didn't just randomly quit the game.
The banging on Chan's door intensified. Hongjoong glared at the door and fixed his annoyed gaze on his friend, "You better get the door before it breaks."
Chan kissed his teeth getting more and more annoyed. He sharply exhaled through his nose.
"Just look after Brownie. I'll see who it is," with that Chan walked towards the door. Hongjoong looked down at the dog who was still staring at the door. The red-haired boy crouched down to her level which caused her to snap her head towards him in anxiousness.
To be honest, Hongjoong was quite surprised to see a huge dog inside his friend's room as soon as he had entered. He was scared that the dog won't be as much friendly towards him. It was true to some extent. Brownie never attacked him. In fact, she barely acknowledged his presence. Usually, dogs loved him. He didn't know why she was ignoring him like that.
