After their date everything had gotten back to pretty much normal, Akari flirting with Ushijima only to get no reaction as a reply. This happened to disappoint the team as they were expecting a change even the coach eyed Ushijima throughout practice making the latter confused. He shrugged it off thinking that the coach just wanted to check if he had improved or not. When the coach had heard about his star player going on a date he was surprised at how the small yet loud girl had made it possible.

Akari sat on the bench throwing ball towards Semi who was practicing setting. She had wanted to spend time with Ushijima, but the latter was harshly hitting the balls and they fell to the floor losing some air and she was not ready to be accidently hit by one. She sat their patiently waiting for Ushijima to take a break. Ushijima on the other hand was making up for the time he had missed during the weekend and continued to practice while the others sat on the floor exhausted.

“Ushi wont I look good carrying your babies?” she called out the stoic boy who had just lost his focus due to being called. He turned to face Akari who was rubbing the ball which was under her shirt making it look like she was pregnant. Ushijima slightly scrunched his face before throwing another ball in the air to spike.

The following day Ushijima sat eating his lunch in his classroom as he watched Tendou and Semi discuss something. Ushijima didn’t like the loud cafeteria and would often sit alone if Tendou didn’t accompany him. “Tendou!” A familiar voice yelled as she pushed open the classroom door. “Your late lets go!” Akari huffed pulling Tendou by his hand and out the classroom. Semi also soon left after meeting up with one of his other friends.

Usually, Ushijima wouldn’t have mind being left alone but he didn’t understand what he had done to make Akari ignore him. The boy was once again feeling that twisted pain of sadness and he had no idea why. He had a fun time with Akari over the weekend and was used to the idea of her showering him with affection in the weird way she did with the use of cheesy and inappropriate lines.  Maybe he missed the attention he received form the grey haired happy girl.

Later that evening Ushijima asked where Tendou had gone. “I’m sorry wakatoshi me and Akari went out for lunch.” He informed the younger who nodded before going back to look at his book. Ushijima couldn’t deny the fact that he was jealous that Akari was ignoring him for Tendou. He couldn’t help but wonder if Akari liked Tendou; he wouldn’t be surprised Tendou was kind, friendly and easy to talk something he was not.

The following day Akari came to collect Tendou to have lunch together once again. Tendou felt bad for Ushijima not sure if the tall boy wanted to have lunch alone again so he invited Ushijima to join them. The latter nodded following the two loud ones who ran to the cafeteria.

Ushijima unpacked his lunchbox neatly and Akari couldn’t help but mumble how cute he was. Ushijima furrowed his eyebrows in confusion he had never been called cute before, hot yes sexy was mentioned a few times too but cute never. The rest of the lunch Tendou and Akari continued to talk and Ushijima couldn’t help but feel like an outcast something which usually wouldn’t bother him.

“Ushijima-san!” Goshiki called out to his idol as he entered the gym earlier than usual. Ushijima greeted the younger boy waiting for the boy to continue seeing as though he had something to say. “I don’t know if I should thank you for making Akari feel better or complain over the fact she wouldn’t shut up about how much she likes you.” He chuckled picking up the ball from the floor so he could practice along side the captain.

“Akari likes me?” he asked the younger who nodded and stared at him like he was stupid. “Did you not know she makes it pretty obvious.” The younger chuckled wondering if the athlete he had idolised so much was really this dense. Ushijima didn’t really reply too busy thinking over what the young boy had told him and let out a small smile.
