Athena's POV-
I open my eyes, feeling warm and content. I hear the faint sound of people talking. That's what made me shoot up from the soft surface I was laying on. Where am I? Who's clothes are these? I have so many questions, the last thing I remember is walking in the woods and then black. So how did I get here? I get up out of what I realized was a bed, I put my feet onto the cold wooden floor and stand up.
The floor boards creaking under my weight, making the people downstairs stop talking. "Oh no" is all I can say to myself. I look around panicked, looking for another door or a window I could jump out of but no luck. I get back into the bed as fast as I can and close my eyes pretending to be asleep as I hear some one walking up the stairs.
No way was I talking to whoever was coming up those stairs, I'm just hoping they think I'm still sleeping and leave. I need to get out of here as soon as I can. I even out my breathing as the door opens. Whoever it is steps inside the room and looks at me.
I can feel their eyes on me. "I know your awake" I hear a girl say. I sit up and move myself to the corner of the bed, away from the girl or should I say woman in front of me. Moving myself as far away from her as I can, making myself small in the corner of the room. "It's okay! I won't hurt you I promise, I just want to help you" she says in a urgent but soft voice. I really get a good look at her and the first thing I notice are the scars on her face, my heart hurts a little as I notice them.
The next thing I notice are her eyes, a soft brown color. 'Beautiful' I think to myself. I notice she's looking at me as I snap myself out of the trance I'm in. "My names Emily, what's yours?" She asks me. I bite my bottom lip, trying to decide if I should tell her my name. "Athena" I eventually say after a few moments of thinking about it. "It's nice to meet you Athena, I'm sure you're hungry. I made food downstairs if you would like some" she says smiling at me.
On cue my stomach growls loudly, loud enough for her to hear. She giggles as she hears my obvious need for food. "Come on, I'll show you to the kitchen" she says standing up and holding out her hand. "Who's down there? I heard other voices. Also who dressed me and how did I get here?" I say throwing out a few of the questions I have.
Standing up from my sitting position, I look at her for answers. "Those are the boys, they're the ones who brought you here, they saw you in the woods hurt and brought you here for help. Don't worry, I had them leave. I dressed you with the help of Leah, my cousin." She says answering the questions I asked her.
"Why did you help me?" I asked, having to know why she helped a stranger. She smiles at me and said "because it would be wrong of me not too. Plus, I couldn't leave you in that condition. I couldn't let myself." I accepted this answer and finally walked towards her, following her downstairs. I looked around as we walked, it's a nice home. Small but comfortable. It's been a long time since I've been in a home. Mine or someone else's.
We reach the kitchen which is connected to the living and dining room. The food I smelt upstairs is in front of me and looks amazing. It's been a while since I've had a warm meal like this. I missed it. I don't even bother asking what she made, I scarfed down the food as fast as I could. Not realizing how hungry I actually was. "Slow down sweetheart, keep eating that fast and you may choke" she says in a concerned but playful way.
I could feel my cheeks turn red with embarrassment and I start to chew slower and actually take in what I'm eating. She smiles at my red cheeks but says nothing about it. I finish the meal in no time, I haven't felt this full in years.
She refills my glass of water and takes away the plate that used to hold my food. "Would you like some more or are you full?" She asks with a smile on her face. "I'm pretty full, it's been a while since I've had so much food. If I eat anymore I'm sure I'd get sick. Thank you for offering. It was really good" I said back to her with a small smile on my face. I sip on the water she gave me. My throat doesn't burn like it used to.
She finishes up cleaning my plate and brings me into the cozy looking living room. "So I'm assuming you have tons of questions, I could answer some of them if you would like" she tells me, noticing me looking around and remembering my line of questions upstairs.
I'm not used to talking to somebody for this long, she seems like genuine and nice person. It's easy to talk to her. "I actually have a lot if you don't mind" I say to her looking anywhere but her way. "I don't mind at all sweetheart, I wouldn't have offered if I did" Emily replies with a playful grin on her face.
"Where am I? Who are the boys? Who patched up my leg and my head? Who's clothes am I wearing?" I asked her pretty fast, nervous for the answers. "Wow okay, that was pretty fast asking haha, I'm sure you've been itching to ask those." Emily says to me after I finish speaking. She's right, I've been wanting to ask her these questions since I woke up.
"Well to answer your first question, you're in La Push Washington, the boys are friends of my fiancé Sam and I. they're sweet guys when you get to know them. They can be a bit much at first. To answer your third question, I did. I'm using to helping the guys out if they get hurt so I volunteered to patch you up and those are my clothes, well the pants and underwear are. I had a pair of underwear I've never worn before so I figured they would fit you and the pants were an old pair of mine. The shirt is Sam's, I couldn't find one of mine that would fit you, you're bigger than I am in the chest area. I couldn't find a bra that would fit you, so I apologize for that." She finish's with a small laugh.
I nod, taking in all the information. I figured the shirt wasn't hers, it smelt differently than she did. Like pine and mint, she smelt like vanilla. Two different scents. "So what will happen now? I mean I don't expect to stay here any longer. You've done more than enough for me" I say as I let out a breath.
She looks at me with wide eyes "you can stay here for as long as you need, I'm sure Sam wouldn't mind. Besides your leg needs time to heal" she says a bit rushed, wanting me to stay. "Thank you Emily, it means a lot. I guess if I'm going to stay, we should get to know each other. I'm sure you have questions." I reply to her in a soft tone.
She goes to speak and as she does so, the front door to the house opens and "the guys" as she put it all came barging in the house like they owned it. I jumped up at the sudden movement and noise. They all pause when they see me sitting there. Feeling uncomfortable and a bit scared, I did the only thing I could think of in the moment...I ran upstairs as fast as I could and locked the door behind me. Leaving Emily to glare at the boys.
