Blue flames engulfed the huge building, spreading like wildfire until every inch of the place was completely smothered in the deadly element.

"TOYA!" you exclaimed before you took off running towards the building, only to be stopped by Natsuo, who grabbed your arm.

"___, wait! Don't go in there!"

"B-but Toya will burn! His body isn't equipped for the heat, I can save him!" You exclaimed before you tried to yank yourself from his grip. Natsuo threw you over his shoulder, and for a brief moment, you glanced at the rest of your family. Enji was looking down at the ground, Fuyumi had her eyes squeezed shut tightly, and Shoto stared at the building in shock, then he looked at you.

"Daddy, we have to save him," you sobbed as Natsuo set you down.

"I don't think there's anything that can be done," Enji said.

"You have to let me try! Please!"

Suddenly, Shoto pulled you into a tight hug. He laid his forehead on your shoulder and choked back a sob. You frowned and hugged him back tightly. After a few minutes, local water magic users came and put out the fire, only to find bodies charred beyond recognition.

"TOYA!"

"Toya!" I exclaimed before I sat up. My heart was beating fast and heavy tears slipped down my cheeks. "Fuck," I mumbled before running my fingers through my hair.

"You alright?" Katsuki asked suddenly, making me jump in surprise.

"K-Katsuki. Did I wake you?"

"Yea," he said before he gently wiped my tear-stained cheeks with his thumbs. "But it's okay. Are you okay?"

"Yea," I mumbled. "Just go back to sleep. I'm sorry."

Katsuki stared at me for a moment, his piercing red eyes seemed to look right through me.

"C'mere," Katsuki said before he pulled me close to him and wrapped part of his cape around me. "Do you wanna talk about it?"

I sighed and laid my head on his shoulder. "It was," I paused. "The night Toya died. I couldn't save him," I mumbled as tears welled up in my eyes.

"He was amazing at fire magic, but his body wasn't durable enough to withstand the flames. I dont know what happened, but when we got back to the place we were staying at, the whole building was on fire. The flames were blue, like Toya's."

"He died in a fire?"

I nodded. "I tried to run into the building, but Natsuo wouldn't let me. He carried me away. I begged my father to let me save him, but he said nothing could be done. After that. I decided to learn water magic."

Katsuki wrapped an arm around my shoulder. "I'm sorry that happened. Dis you always have nightmares about it?"

I nodded. "Yea, for a while, after it happened, but it's been years since I last dreamt about that night."

"Honestly, I'm not sure how to comfort you," Katsuki said with a sigh.

I looked up at him and smiled. "This is more than enough, thank you. Honestly, I never expected to see you so," I paused. "Soft."

Katsuki scoffed. "I ain't soft. Just lay on me and go to sleep."

"I'll try. Thank you, Katsuki."

...............

The next day, I woke up just before sunrise. I slowly slipped out of Katsuki's hold and stood up. Right after that, Kiri landed, covered in blood.
