Kirishima and I danced around the dancefloor once again. He looked down at me and smiled. It was a look I've never seen before. It was like... complete adoration.
I smiled at him. "What's with that look?" It seemed as though only him and I were in the room. Nothing around me mattered at this moment.
He shrugged. "Dunno what you mean."
I chuckled. "Again with not answering my questions, huh?"
"Yup," he said, popping the p.
"Eijiro, back then," I trailed off. "When Toya said it, did you love me then?"
"Why?"
"I wanna know," I said.
He sighed and leaned his forehead against mine. "I did," he said honestly. "But, I thought you loved Katsuki or Toya. Even now, I think one of them would be better for you, even after all that shit Toya did."
"Really? Why?"
"They're," he paused. "Better for you. Human. They're not strong, to the point they constantly worry about hurting you. Toya is a prince, Katsuki is a great fighter. You'd be protected, and no one would judge you for it."
"Sometimes I forget you're not human," I said with a small chuckle. "But that doesn't matter to me. I like you the way you are. I love your strength, your kindness, your humor. I hate that you put yourself down."
"I'm a monster," he muttered as he leaned his cheek against mine.
"You're not," I muttered back. "I wish you saw yourself the same way I do."
Kiri chuckled dryly. "Yeah, sometimes I do too. After what happened to me," he paused. "I can't even look in the mirror anymore."
I pulled my hand away and put it on his cheek. "When you look in the mirror, what do you see?"
"A monster," he said simply. There was a moment of silence, as if he was silently asking for permission to keep going. "I see," he paused. "I see myself, in that dungeon again. I see the things they used on me. I see her sick grin, and." His entire body shuttered.
"I-I see."
"It's okay," I said. "You don't have to talk about it right now, but, Eijiro." He sighed and looked at me. I caressed his cheek with my thumb and smiled. "You're incredible. Hopefully, soon you'll be able to see that too."
He smiled and leaned down slowly, then he gently pressed his lips against mine. I didn't even get the chance to reach before Kiri spun me, and during that time, I caught a glimpse of something that made my heart drop. He pulled me close again, and I looked over his shoulder.
Toya was there, just looking at me. My heart seemed to stop and a lump formed in the back of my throat. His face was stotic, and his jaw was clenched, but when I looked into his eyes, I could almost see hos heart shattering. He looked so hurt, so broken.
"Oh my god!" A woman exclaimed once she saw him. The crowd started to disperse, and Kiri pushed me behind him, but Toya and I never lost eye contact. It was as if he was screaming, "I love you, and you shattered my heart! Please, choose me instead!"
"Get back!"
"What are you doing out?!" Natsuo exclaimed. He went to pull out his sword. Katsuki and Izuku started marching towards him.
"No!" I said. "Don't hurt him!"
"What are you saying?" Kiri said. "He escaped; he could hurt you."
"You stay away from ___!" Katsuki exclaimed. I pushed past Kiri and Izuku, and literally yanked Katsuki's arm back.
"What are you doing?" He said.
