As Denki lay in bed, he checked his alarm; 11:30pm and his parents were still at each others throats. Rolling over, away from the direction of the door, he tried to stop the tears from falling. He just wanted everything to be normal. He wanted his parents to just get along. To stop fighting.
He didn't realise that the noise had stopped, until his door opened and he felt a weight on the end of his bed, paired with a sigh. Denki rolled over and saw his mum.
"Mum?"
"Hello, Denks. I didn't mean to wake you."
"It's OK. I wasn't asleep anyways." Denki replied, sitting up
"I'm sorry for all the yelling. Me and your Dad have just been having a few disagreements." She said stroking his hair.
"Hey... Uh, mum...?"
"Yes, Pikachu?"
"How did you know you loved Dad?"
"Well... He was brave...caring... Loveable and sweet. Not to mention to strong, although he did get a little hot-headed at times... And be a bit stubborn. But he respected me and said he would do everything to show me that he cared. Why do you ask?"
"Well... Sigh...this kinda has two parts. First of all... I'm...uh... I'm Bisexual...."
"Oh, sweety. Thank you for telling me. I know your father doesn't accept people like that, but I'm happy you had the courage to tell me."
"I've also got a crush... At school..."
"Oh~?"
"His name is Hitoshi Shinso and he is amazing! He's got this wild purple hair, violet eyes that you could just get lost in... A kind and caring voice. Every time I hear it, its like a melody! He even volunteered to help me to improve my fighting style. I don't think I made a good first Impression though. I kinda spat water through my nose... In front of him and my friends."
"Oh, Denki! If you love this boy so much that you care about your first impression towards him, then follow your heart to what feels right. If he loves you back then he wouldn't care about what you do or look like, he'll like you for you. OK?"
"OK..."
"Now get some sleep. You've got school tomorrow and its already midnight."
"Goodnight, Mum. Love you."
"Love you to, my little Pikachu."
As Denki lay down, his mum walks out, closing the door softly. Almost immediately, sleep consumes him.
