This Scent

The blanket that was covering the infant's hair slipped off and Annie's eyes widened when she saw the black and white hair.

how couldn't she realize earlier?

' she smells like Touka and Kaneki' the blond thought to herself

"Touka may I ask who's the father," she said to the woman who had her back turned to her as she was now packing Ichika's stuff with a smile.

Anne was wishing and praying that she would never say the person she thought it was.

" her father is Kane-" she was cut off by Kaneki who just came into the room.

" Mikasa, Annie, what took you so long '' he stopped himself when he saw touka packing a bag and not showing her face as she looked down.

Mikasa ran to her dad with a happy smile not knowing what was going on.

" Papa Aunty Touka had a baby," she said with a smile and that made kaneki look down at her with scared eyes.

" is that so?" he asked.

He then looked at his wife. The only thing he saw was her back; she faced the bed holding the infant with wide eyes.

Kaneki saw that his wife wasn't speaking or moving, he was making his way over to her but stopped in his tracks when she spoke up.

"Touka who is the father of this child," Annie asked once again.

Touka stood up with a smile as kaneki stared at her with wide eyes.

" Her father is" she paused and walked to Kaneki, "Kaneki" she answered now standing at Kaneki's side with a smile.

"o-ok," Annie said, finally turning to look at them, she was fighting to hold back tears.

she walked to kaneki and Touka and handed her the child, Kaneki could see she was fighting back tears.

" look Annie I-" she cut him off by saying.

" come on Mikasa let's go home mommys' tired"

Mikasa looked at her mother, still not understanding the situation.

" Mommy is there something wrong? " Mikasa said in a worried tone, holding her mother's hand as they made their way to the door.

" everything's alright Mika" she paused looking down before continuing" Mommys just tired, tell Aunty Touka goodbye"

Mikasa said goodbye and left Touka's room as Touka and Kaneki were now left in the quiet room with the infant.

" kaneki-" before she could finish, Kaneki walked out of the room and she sighed with a smile still on her face.

" Looks like daddy is gonna be with us from now on huh," she said giggling.

Hide watched as Annie told everybody she had to leave.

" I'm sorry guys I have to leave so soon, I'm tired and I think we should get home it's late," she said with a forced smile.

Everyone said it was ok and wished her happy birthday one more time before Kaneki came down and they went into the car driving home in silence. The kids were already asleep in the back seat.

Kaneki stole glances at her until they reached home.

Getting out of the car Kaneki picked up the sleeping triplets, took off their shoes, and laid them on their bed.

and Annie dealt with Historia like always.

Later Kaneki came to the room he shared with Annie ready to tell her sorry in every way possible.
