Chapter 15

Previously on the last Burke witch
"Evermore elixir is a powerful but dangerous potion." He admired the liquid that moved around "The measurements served have to be exact or they can have dire consequences. Three tablespoons stop a witches magic, four render them unconscious and five, if left untreated can, well, kill them" he brought the needle to her arm as she struggled slightly, Caroline also trying to break free "let's hope elena gets here soon, it would be a shame for that family to loose anyone else" with that he plunged it into her arm

Evil Alaric stood back to watch his handy work however he frowned when nothing happened. Despite everything kassie smirked at him, along with letting out a small pained chuckle. Alaric surged forward, his hands gripping Kassie's neck.
"Why is nothing happening?" He snarled, kassie laughed again although it sounded more like an amused huff.
"Seems like dear Esther failed to mention some important information" kassie said making Alaric tighten his grip "the elixir won't work until those herbs are out of my system" kassie smirked weakly when the man growled and let go of her, stalking away. He then sped over to his desk swiping away it's contents in frustration.

The two girls watched as he angrily sped out of the room. Kassie waited until she heard more noise further down the corridor before turning towards Caroline.
"When the herbs are fully out of my system" she muttered weakly "I will have about three minutes before the elixir kicks in. If I can concentrate I might be able to find a way to warn the others about us" Caroline's eyes widened, but it wasnt fear instead a new found hope, something that made kassie not even dare to tell her about the possibility that she could overexert herself and die. That wasn't important right now.

Just then alaric came back into the classroom, significantly happier than before and that was not a good sign.
"Right on time" Alaric mused just as elena walked in. Kassie's eyes went wide as she weakly tried to get out of her bonds. No, this was not happening, surely elena was not that dumb to come here alone.
"Caroline" elena gasped as her eyes found her best friend, skin burned, pencils through her hands and face stained with tears. "Kassie" kassie could only imagine how bad it she looked herself, tears on her face, a split lip, bruised cheek, not to mention her wrists which she was sure were red raw by now. "Let them go, alaric" she demanded staring down the man who was leisurely sitting behind his desk.

"Free them yourself" he replied lazily. Elena gave him a suspicious look before her eyes found Kassie's as she asked her a silent question.
"Help Caroline" kassie muttered "I'm okay" she nodded softly when she saw that Elena was hesitant, the doppelgänger gave her one last look before rushing over to Caroline and pulling out a pencil. However before she could get it out alaric came speeding towards them and pushed the pencil back in. Caroline cried out in pain and kassie had to turn away as more tears flowed down her face, she hated seeing her friends do in pain.

"You said that you would let them go" elena shouted
"How many times do I have to tell you?" Alaric replied, advancing towards the brunette and pushing her into a desk "stop trusting vampires" he then walked behind Caroline and untied the fabric around her mouth, dipping it into a beaker of what kassie guessed was filled with vervain. Caroline whimpered and kassie and Elena almost broke at the sight of what the solution was doing to her skin. When Alaric walked back over to the blonde she started to whimper.
"No, no more, please, no more!" Caroline said, Her voice breaking. Elena stood up attempting to help her friend but Alaric just pushed her back down and continued to tie the cloth around the blonde's face. 

"Sit down!" He bellowed "This keeps the vervain in her system. It's like inhaling razorblades with every breath." He then walked over to kassie checking the veins on her wrist. Elena sent them a confused look so alaric chuckled "oh, right. I gave your sister a basically witch poison, if you will, but unfortunately Esther failed to mention it won't work until she is free of the herbs I gave her to stop her magic. All we have to do is wait for her veins to turn black and the poison will have infected her blood" elena's eyes filled with tears as she looked sadly at kassie, kassie just gave her a small watery smile praying she could contact the Salvatore's or klaus and that they'd get there in time.
