Friday morning

I screamed as I looked at the blood that was coming from the wound. Ally was on the ground in pain, her hands clutching her foot. I thought that I heard her scream violently, but most of my senses seemed muddled. Once again, I was seeing things in slow motion -- I knew that it was no good for my psyche for this to keep happening to me.

Trauma -- too much trauma all at once.

I leaned down and pulled off my shirt to wrap it around her foot without thinking twice. The blood was everywhere. It was leaking off her shoe. It was soaking into the pavement. My eyes went from the blood on the ground to Ally as she gripped my shirt with trembling hands. She placed it over her foot, doing her best to not keep screaming out loudly.

I wished I could do something.

Something more.

My upper body was now exposed to the world with nothing to cover it except for the strapless bra that I wore. A chilly wind touched my bare skin. I didn't feel it. I could even react since my eyes were glued onto Ally. The wind and everything else around me wasn't important right now -- Ally.

Ally was important.

"A-Ally-!" I said in a crazed voice. There was a slight crack to it, but my best friend didn't pay me any notice. She was too busy with keeping the pain at bay.

I was going into shock for her.

This was all my fault -- my fault -- my fault -- my fault...!

Falling to my knees, I used my own shaking hand to wrap the useless shirt around the injury. Ally was letting out swear words under her breath while Brendon was looking down at her silently. I wanted to yell at him to do something:

Didn't he love her?

Why wasn't he doing anything more?

Why was he just standing there emotionlessly??

There were heavy, rushed footsteps that were coming towards me. I didn't turn to look, my focus was only on Ally. She looked at me, her face paling a little from...from what? The pain? Blood loss? The rising fear? Was she going to lose her foot?

My fault -- this was all my fault...!

My hands were around Ally's foot, keeping the cloth against it. I needed to minimalize the bleeding, or get it to stop. I didn't know if it was even helping. I didn't know if I was doing a good job. I glanced down at the shirt – the way that the blood was getting absorbed into it. There was no way that this would stop the bleeding.

What else could I do it -- damn it!

Please...!

My head started to fall forward as the unwanted tears made their way into my eyes.

"What are you doing?" Evan demanded, pulling me up roughly by my arm. I let out a strangled yelp, finally coming to my senses. In my foggy, small bubble, I could feel the harsh wind. I could hear Ally's whimpers of pain and Brendon's labored breathing. There was more to this world than just Ally and I -- there was also a very angry Evan that was now sneering down at me. "Why did you take your shirt off?"

"Let go of me!!" I screeched, swinging my arms madly around myself. I needed to get back down to Ally -- she needed me! This was all my fault and I needed to make it right again. I needed to know that she didn't hate me -- that she still loved me...!

It was my fault -- this was all my fault...!

I had punched Evan in the face in my blind panic at getting free, which caused him to drop my body completely. There was a moment of silence as I hit the ground and from where his head was tilted to the side from the impact of my attack. I looked up, now sitting on my legs on the ground, dreading what his reaction would be.
