Thaddeus's POV

Clashing a sword up to their blade, kicking their chest back with my foot, and stepping forward. Bringing the sword up harder into another perry. I ball my other hand into a fist, lodging it in the accused gut. As he toppled over, I grabbed their neck. Pounding their face into the ground, teeth and blood splattered the rock and dried dirt. Again and again, I slammed it harder each time with more force.

"Tell me!" I command.

They only groaned out in pain as I shouted the question louder into their ear. I latch my canine onto the cartilage, growling, as both sides of me wanted more. Closing the gap, I ripped through the flesh and tore his right ear clean off.

My anger fueled every integration I led. The days grew tense and the missing answers worsened each person's fate. As I went through the list of men on duty that night, I hoped one would give.

I spat out the reminisce of his ear and pulled myself up. Throwing the blade aside, I left the heaving corpse. The steel door rolled up as I passed through. Within a second, they slammed down, locking the cell in darkness. The candlelit passageway awoke by my presence. All a hundred men guarding the cells of their comrades straightened up and held their backs to the wall. All of them were armed and heavily plated head to toe.

Rubbing the sweat from my brow with my forearm, I pass them without a glance. That was the last of them, none could be trusted to guard a mouse. I trained with them, fought with them, yet none could hold his own in combat. Worthless meat ready for the slaughterhouse. Waste of our resources to keep training those boneless wimps just for them to fail me. The moment my father took the throne, everything had to look as if nothing had changed. As my grandfather before him brought peace and held the reins for hundreds of years. Our line is pathetic compared to the first true king of our race. The first who conquered and united us as one.

Not much longer until I take my place on that throne. My Throne, my lands, my people, and my army to sculpt into what we once were.

All I need now...

My wolf cries out, begging for any trace of her. Dominating the mind and filling it with images of her. Her angelic plush face, those round grey glistening eyes, and god that sweet sweet mouth of hers could end me. I've been craving more of her. The things I want to do to my sweet little mate. I purr at the thought of having her to myself every night. Opening my chambers to find her dressed, polished, and ready for erotic pleasure.

My mouth parts as a heavy thirst hits the back of my throat. The dry air clinging to my taste buds and burning. The feeling spread all over my limbs. I lent my hand on the wall for support and tried to walk but toppled falling against it. My body ached, yet no wounds or signs of threat.

My little mate was in danger.

Eden's POV

His hold on my wrist never loosened once we left his quarters. He kept me at arm's width the entire time as we passed the gates, blocking off numerous dark passageways. Muffled cries off in the distance made my skin crawl. Letting out a nervous squeak as the walls grew claustrophobic

"Where are we going?"

"Down." He said, pulling off his heavy cloak and draping it over our heads.

I held onto one end and brought it across my face. It was getting colder and colder. The woolen gown he had me change into before we left hugged me snugly. The fabric was old and itchy against my body, its long cuffs trimmed with bear fur that swept along the floor.

We stayed like this for an hour more until a bright light led to an opening. The sun was high in the sky, blinding at first, but my eyes adjusted and I pulled him to a halt. Rapid waves crashed against the walls on both sides of us. The water rose and uptied over a single thin beam hoisted out over the water. Copper cables drilled into an overlapping pattern lined each side, forming a bridge.
