"You there. Fetch two servants to escort Miss Lilyan Frevia to a lounge and attend to her needs." Cinea commanded one of the men in the crowd. Doing so he rushes out of the ballroom, the other people following him with their eyes. No one dared to speak as she made her way over from Zale to us. Taking one of each our hands and holding them firmly with a supportive shake.
The man instantly returns with two identical-looking girls. The two of them hurried through the standing crowd observing us, stopping when they met Cinea and bowing out of respect. Keeping their heads low they shuffled over to Lilyan. Taking her condition into consideration, they lightly held onto her upper arms. Within a few seconds, the three women vacated the room through a side door.
Taking a moment to look around the room, trying to hunt down the girls from before. And to my entertainment, I find them huddled off in a corner hiding from the others. Guess even Noble Ladies are afraid of the Queen when she's in pursuit. I think as I place my hands to my hips and curse my lips with a smug expression.
Zale remained close by as the others went back to their own business. Keeping me insight from the corner of his eye as another guard attempts to exchange banter. The way his attentive focus loomed on me gave me the jitters. I couldn't take a step without his pupils zeroing in on me. As my second attempt to ignore him failed, he shook the other guard off filling the space between us again. With his quickstep aimed at me, I take two to the left just for him to follow suit. I took two more but this time back and to the right. As he did the same with a confused look plastered on his face, the noise around us softens.
The lights dim, a single light beam crawls from the middle of the room to the right side until stopping at a hidden wing above. A set of curtains part as the light widens to display a small but grand orchestra. My eyes land on a maturer, short, and well-rounded man in a white tux. And with a single cough others of all shapes and sizes readied their instruments. Another beam beckons down. Similar to that of the other one, the light makes its way up the wall but to the Left. The drapes were drawn as a lone woman emerged to take the light, her hands pushing outwards as if it was she who motioned the fabrics at will. The familiar face dips down to meet mine making me smile in the process.
The little adventure in the garden was worth the misfortune that followed. Her toned physique alluded to form a curvaceous body dazzled in a comely gown to suit her ebony skin. The modest deep apricot silk layered over her chest and cinched in under her bust. Thick bounds of thread dyed a deep mauve tightly rounded about the shape of her waist. Ribbon looped and sowed into pleats falling upon the hips, adding shape to the entire gown. As Nena lowered her hands and took another step into the line of sight of all, multiple gasped followed by awing her beauty. The two lights now equally share the small orchestra and the woman, together positioned and awaiting something to happen.
I shift my focus back to my situation. Zale's attention was solely on the two spotlights along with the others. With no objection in mind, I take the front of my gown and lift it from the ground. As majestic as it seems, being dressed to the nines lacked access to the ideal motive function. Examining the still ring of noblemen lingering round walls. Singling out one who was familiar in appearance and presence. As if my evening hadn't added the cherry to a Sunday, the Southern pack's representatives. A wave of joy flooded my vessel and took my worries with them.
"Mama! Papa!" I coo and rush in their direction. For heavens, it feels as if I've gone months without them nearby. My feet lightly hit the marble, springing to even greater speed. I barely felt the white steel boning of the corset jabbing into my lower abdomen.
Those familiar gray eyes met mine in unison. My mother's noble illusion fleeing as she notices my oncoming presence.
"My baby cub! Goddess have mercy I'm about to faint, look at my baby girl all grown up." Tori declares loud enough for many ears to hear. Her arms reach my way, ready to embrace me in a hug.
