"Eves, what do you think?" I ask her as I walk out of the dressing room in a short tight red leather dress.
"Damn girl, you look hot! If you're trying to get Soda's attention, I think you have," she laughs. "I won't tell Amber, hand it over, I'm buying this for you."
"No, you are not," I say.
"Really, what size is this, a small," she guesses. "I'm gonna go buy a small for you, so don't buy that one." I sigh as I give her the dress and she throws it in the cart of all the clothes. "This shopping spree is my treat, welcome back to Tulsa."
"Thanks Eve, wanna ditch Lex and Amber?"
"Yes! Let's get changed into some hot clothes and impress our boys."
"Our boys, so Soda's mine now?"
"Soda's been yours, he still has all the pictures of you two in his top draw, Pony told me and c'mon Amber is Dylan."
"Thank you!" I yell a extremely over-dramatic
"Let's go pay, leave those two besties alone, they'll be happier alone."
"Agreed, lets go girl."
We pay then leave walking to the DX to see our boys. I love this girl so much already, I knew we'd become fast best friends. I walk into the DX and see Sodapop reading a magazine. I look over to Evie and put a finger to my mouth telling her to be silent as I sneak up behind him. I mouth to her, 'distract him'.
She nods and walks over to Soda, "hey Sodapop! What's up?"
"Nothing much, where's Dylan?" He ask.
"With Lexi and Amber," she shrugs.
"Her and Amber are friends. Funny I thought they'd hate each other."
"They do, but I snuck out and she's with Lexi."
"Oh god,"
This is when I do it. I swipe the piece of chocolate cake I packed for his lunch from under his desk and smear it all over his cheeks then over to his lips. He turns around and looks at me as I yell, "surprise!'"
"God, do I love you," He smiles as he kisses my cheek.
"God, do I love you too," I mimic him smiling. "When is Amber leaving again?"
He looks down at his sheet of paper, eighty-two days, four hours and six minutes."
"Awe, look at my favorite love birds," she smiles. "Where's Steve?"
"Garage, he wants to know if you two would like to come to a restaurant with us later, like a diner," he smiles. We both shrug in response as Evie leaves. "We made sure it had chicken or seafood for you my dear."
"Well, that's good because I love chicken and seafood," I smile as I kiss his nose.
"God Dyl, stop making me love you!"
"Is that an order or suggestion?"
"Neither, it's more like a never stop loving me because, I love you my dear."
"I could never stop loving you, baby. I even loved you when I was in California."
"Never leave me again."
"I won't. I promise."
"I really want to kiss you right now."
"I really want to kiss you right now too, but we will the second Amber leaves."
"I can't wait for June 25th," he smiles.
"Well, neither can I. I actually have a question."
"Shoot."
"What's her story with you and my sister? Like why is she my sister's best friend and you're girlfriend? How did she replace me?" I ask because, that's the only thing that hurts about being back.
Soda's P.O.V.
"What's her story with you and my sister? Like why is she my sister's best friend and you're girlfriend? How did she replace me?" Dylan asks me only now letting me see the pain in her eyes that Amber has caused.
I think back to two days after she left...
"Hey guys," Steve yells as he walks into my house. "I've come barring a gift."
"What is it?" Lexi asks. "If it's not my sister, I don't want to see it."
"Well, it's not you're sister, but it might help mend you're heart aches," he smiles.
I look up at him only now wondering what could possible fix my broken heart, there are still tears rolling down my cheeks, I haven't stopped crying since I found out she left. I love her with all my heart. He moves out of the way and I see an old friend of mine, Amber, "hey Amber."
"Sodapop," she smiles as she kisses my cheek. She reminds me of Dylan, her looks, her smile, her laugh, the way she always kisses people's cheek, she's close to Steve, and her personality. She reminds me so of much of the girl I love.
I look over to Lexi who now has tears rolling down her cheeks to match mine. She walks over to Amber and croaks out, "can I hug you?"
"Sure," she smiles as she wraps her arms around Lexi....just like Dylan would if a random crying stranger came up to her and asked her for a hug. That is one of the many things I love about Dylan, she puts others first.
"What's wrong?" She asks softly as she continues to hug Lexi.
"You just remind me so much of my sister, Dylan. She just ran-away. I loved her so much and it hurts so bad."
"Awe, it's okay, I'm sure she'll be back," Amber whispers into her ears as she squeezes her eyes shut failing at keeping in a few tears. "What's you're name?"
"Lexi, Lexi Jeuggers," Lexi smiles. "You can call me Lex if you want, that's what Dylan called me when I was younger."
"Well Lex, you can call me Ambs," she smiles. That's when it hits me, I love Amber almost as much as I love Dylan. Amber might not be Dylan, but she's as close as I'm ever gonna get to being with Dylan. I'm gonna have to get Amber in order to be happy ever again and so is Lexi. We're gonna have to make Amber the new Dylan.
I look over to Dylan to see her crying. I walk over to her and hug her as she sobs, "it hurts so bad. She replaced me. My sister replaced me with my ex-boyfriend's girlfriend. The guy I love replaced me with her. I've been replaced with a skinnier version of me Sodapop, it's hurt so bad. She's just like me."
Dylan's P.O.V.
As I hear the story I release, I really have been replaced and I can't help, but cry. Amber replaced me, she took my spot in the gang, in Soda's heart, in Lexi's heart. She took me, she's the new Dylan and I'm the old Dylan. I can't compete. As Soda finishes he wraps his arms around me and I sob into his chest.
