A D R I A N N A H
Adriannah sat cross legged on the worn velvet sofa in the Ravenclaw common room. The scent of a crackling fire filled the air, and she flipped through the pages of an ancient copy of Tales of Shakespeare. She had gotten it from the selection of Muggle books in the Hogwarts library, as she had never been able to read Muggle literature as a child.
This particular book she checked out every year without fail, and had worked it out with Madam Pince second year to keep it for the entirety of each term, as it wasn't exactly a popular choice among the students.
Her family saw everything Muggle as inferior, and worthless. She had grown to love Shakespeare for this exact reason, and turned to her favorite story, Romeo and Juliet.
Two households, both alike in dignity, In fair Verona, where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
These words had become those of comfort and familiarity to her, and became raptured by the story as she always was every time she revisited it.
Yet just as soon as she had been entranced by the prose, she was broken from her concentration to see Kendall and Margot sit themselves on the couch beside her.
They were sporting matching grins as they looked at Adriannah in silence until Kendall spoke, "Ready to go?" She questioned.
Adriannah shut her book and looked up to respond with a quick, "Yep, just let me grab my scarf."
She made her way to the girls' dorm to wrap her scarf tightly around her. The cool, December air cut right through their robes, and she decided to throw on a thick wool sweater just for good measure.
She had a soft spot for poorly hand knitted sweaters. They comforted her in an unusual way, and she never minded the slight itch of the wool on her skin.
Walking down the stairs she heard Margot anxiously quip, "Well?"
"Okay, okay, I'm ready. Let's go."
The trio walked out and down through Ravenclaw tower to make their way into Hogsmeade. After receiving the news of the Yule Ball, the girls were excited to look for dresses. Although they had been told to bring some in preparation, none of them felt that they were quite up to their standards for an event such as this.
They trudged their way to the cobblestone streets lined with shops, and entered one filled with dresses of every color that lined the walls. She casually filtered through each gown, feeling the silk and velvet in her hands.
Suddenly, a sliver of pale beaded fabric caught her eye, and she picked it from the rack to hold it out in front of her.
She heard Kendall from behind her say, "Adri, you have to try that on."
"I don't know..."
"Please just try it?"
"Okay, okay, I will as long as you try....this!" Adriannah looked quickly through the dresses and selected a dress that faded from a blush pink to white, scattered with pearls and flowers.
"Yes!" Margot added, "It'll look gorgeous on you Ken." Margot was already holding a coral colored tulle gown that would compliment her gorgeously.
They each slipped into a fitting room armed with their picks. Adriannah pulled the dress on and looked in the mirror. Although it was very pretty it just didn't feel very her.
She stepped out to see Kendall and Margot already looking at their dresses in the floor length mirrors.
Adriannah took one glance at Margot and exclaimed, "If you don't buy that dress right now I will throw you in the Black Lake."
