The entire castle bustled with the excitement of tonight. The Yule Ball. Even in the Ravenclaw common room, all studies had been pushed to the side.

Up in their dormitory, Kendall, Adriannah, and Margot giggled and fawned over their dresses. The stunning black, red, and coral fabrics stood out on their blue velvet comforters.

Kendall was last to slip into her dress, admiring the red silk and tulle sleeves that brushed her pale skin. She rarely used the hair straightening charm, but felt the need for a little change. Something new.

Tomorrow is Christmas. The first Christmas without her brother. Kendall had been so caught up in her own world, she almost forgot. Almost.

She and Theo should be celebrating together tomorrow. His first Christmas at Hogwarts. Instead, Kendall and her family agreed that she and Adri would stay at Hogwarts, already beginning to study for their N.E.W.T.S. next year. She knows deep down this Christmas is hard for her best friend as well. Her family may not be picture perfect, but Adri misses them.

Kendall shook her head, she was determined to save her tears for tomorrow and enjoy tonight. She brought herself back to the present. Yule... Dancing... Fred.

"I think I'm going to vomit," Kendall groaned, the nerves starting to take over.

She couldn't stop the nervous butterflies in her stomach and she hated it.

Adriannah gave her a blank stare, "Ken, you're fine. Walk it off, you already saw Fred today."

"Yes, but that was earlier and this is now," the blonde continued, pacing the room.

Margot glanced at the pair, barely paying attention as she fixed up her hair, "You're a bloody idiot if you don't realize you could show up in a rubbish bin and be the prettiest thing in the room to Fred."

"Exactly," Adriannah nodded.

"Ugh, why are you guys so calm?" Kendall demanded

Adriannah just shrugged and waved her off, "Lee and I are just friends."

"And I'm not even going with who I wanted to," Margot sighed.

"Me either," Adriannah mumbled quietly.

This caught Kendall's attention. But just as she was about to question Adri, the brunette shot up off her bed to change the subject.

"It's getting late, we should head down to the ball. You both already look stunning, so hurry up!"

Kendall glanced at Margot, who didn't seem to have heard their friend's confession.

"Alright," Kendall said, grabbing her wand and strapping it against her leg, underneath her dress, "Let's go."

The three girls joined the stream of students heading towards the Great Hall. The sea of colors and dress robes only added to the anticipation. Once the girls made it to the top of the last stair case, Kendall glanced at the small crowd of people below them. She saw Lee, George, and Angelina all speaking to Fred, who had his back to the staircase. When George looked past his brother, he sent Kendall a mischievous smile and knocked his elbow into Fred's arm, causing him to wince.

Fred shot his twin a dirty look before George tipped his chin towards the stairs. Fred turned around, locking eyes with Kendall.

His jaw went slightly slack as he ran his eyes up and down her body. A blush, matching her dress, rose to her cheeks as Fred sent her an award winning smile.
