They say tragedy heals with time.

Yet, for Kendall Lange, three months was not enough time. Maybe the routine of being at Hogwarts will help.

But then again, only time will tell.

Packing up the last of her necessities, she glanced around her bedroom. The once lively room has been transformed into a sanctuary, for both Kendall and her best friend, Adriannah.

They spent the summer locked within the pale blue walls, by choice, yet it rarely felt that way.

Adriannah had seeked refuge from her prejudiced, pureblood parents with the Lange's, which just so happened to fall perfectly during the time when Kendall needed her most.

Kendall tried to drown out her thoughts, but they were too intrusive.

It's all my fault. If only I had...

It's all she thought about anymore. Her once bright personality, gaining her the nickname Sun, has been overshadowed by a large storm cloud.

And Adriannah, the Moon to her Sun, was running out of ideas. How do you save your best friend from herself?

Kendall knew Adriannah had her own trials and tribulations this summer. She hated that she burdened Adri with her problems. No matter how much Kendall pushed her away, Adriannah always came back. It's what made them best friends, soul sisters.

The rattling of a cage snapped Kendall out of her deep thoughts. She glanced at the cage, spotting a very impatient barn owl staring back at her.

"I'm ready too Atlas. Just... give me a second," The dark blonde girl bargained. Earning herself a satisfied hoot from Atlas.

After tying up her mop of curls, Kendall gathered her trunk, double checked for her wand, and began the descent down the stairs.

She lived in a simple two story house in London. The kind that was the exact same as the others next door. The red exterior was striking, but not amongst the sea of red houses that lined her street. It was just Kendall, her auror mother, her muggle father, and now Adriannah.

This was the first summer Adriannah Hugo had come to live with the Lange's. She had enough of her blood judgy family after the quarrel in fifth year. But that story is for another day.

So instead, Adri lived with Kendall and her parents. The pureblood had always had a fascination with the muggle world, which created a great bond between her and Mr. Lange. She felt more at home with the Lange's than she ever did at Hugo Manor.

"Kendall! Are you ready? You don't want to miss the train!" Her mother called from the kitchen, the overbearing parental side starting to show.

"I'm right here mum," The girl spoke softly as she walked into the kitchen. She sent a weak smile to her family and Adri, only to receive sympathetic looks in return.

After a couple seconds of thoughtful silence, her mother cleared her throat and the family resumed eating their breakfast before heading to King's Cross Station.

Adriannah met her friend at the bottom of the stairs. Together, they grabbed their trunks, and loaded them in the car.

As they went to sit in the back seat, Kendall spent a second too long holding the handle. She shoved the somber thoughts into a tight sealed box in the back of her brain, and opened the car door.

"It'll be ok," Adriannah reminded the girl, softy smiling.

"I know, it's just still hard to think about," Kendall whispered in return, trying hard not to let her wall crumble.
