She closed her eyes, unshed tears rimmed her eyelashes, tilting her chin up and brought her face up. This was her unwilling consent to prove that she indeed loved him. Realizing little that love demands no proves, only the heart needs to connect.

Life happens in fragments, not all at once but it goes by like cold breeze of air, in a rush. Arina's third year in her residency was almost coming to an end. Never did she expect to walk this far in life, all on her own, passing through like wind, unsettling. Brittle and vulnerable, that's what she had turned into from not fully healing herself and burrying the cuts deeper into the graveyard of her lost dreams.
"I'm getting married." She looked at Jane in utter amusement mixed with glee.
"That's... great. Congratulations." She looked back at her confused, not expecting the kind of cold response from her closest of friends. Jane had been engaged over a year to her high school sweetheart and Arina always looked at both the couple with awe. To her, they were made for each other, a rare phenomenon for her.
"That's it?" She questioned faking hurt.
"I'm really happy for you but scared at the same time." Arina honestly confessed. It was beyond her how people committed to bond for life, how they trusted someone with their vulnerable hearts and how they believed it won't get broken. Like hers did.
"Ari, he loves me and I love him. We'll be happy." Rubbing the side of her arm in reassurance. Arina nodded her head, dismissing her anxious thoughts. "I really pray you are." Wishing her back.
"You'll find a guy too, don't worry. I'll be your bridesmaid, after you dress for mine first." Arina gave her a disapproving look over both her wishes. Jane had been the support system she needed in forgetting all about Danial and moving on. Deep down she had always felt sad for Arina, relating to how hard it must've been walking out on someone you knew you had loved with all your heart. She sent silent prayers her way every time Arina tried hard not to show how much she needed someone to love her back, unconditionally and irrevocably.
"Anyways gotta go assist a surgery with Greene"
"I'm up with Tyler at five." Raising her hand, showing Jane her five fingers in exaggeration.
